Price Comparison / AWS EC2 M3 Instances Produced by, Inc. Additional Information and access to a 14- day trial are avaialble at: Getting Started: Comparing Infrastructure- as- a- Service offerings can be tricky. Providers use a lot of similar terms to describe what can be very different things and there are so many factors to consider, it's hard to know exactly what you're buying. Pricing in US$ We want to make that all easier for you. The following is a 4- step comparison of Web Services EC2 M3 instances and that focuses on what you need, as opposed to what you are forced to pay for, in an IaaS solution. Let's start with the base pricing of both AWS and : core (hour) core (30 RAM (hour) RAM (30 (hour) (30 (hour) (30 on demand 0, ,0075 5,4 N/A N/A 0, ,04 Pricing in US$ core (hour) core (30 RAM (hour) RAM (30 (hour) (30 (hour) (30 on demand N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A 0, ,05 on demand plans cores RAM SSD price (hour) price (30 M3 Medium Instance 1 3,75 4 0,113 81,36 M3 Large Instance 2 7,5 32 0, ,00 M3 Extra Large Instance , ,00 Temporary (also called "ephemeral" or "scratch") SSD does not have any redundancy built into it. This is the default offering from AWS when using EC2. If an instance goes down or is turned off, the data is lost. does not offer " ", all of our Cloud is which keeps its data independent of the instance Page 1 /12

Price Comparison / AWS EC2 M3 Instances and all data is at a minimum saved on two disks in two availibility zones for built- in redundancy. AWS M3 instances use SSD without redendancy, increasing your risk for data loss. SSD is supposed to be high- performance in terms of I/O. However ' still outperforms 's SSD. The pricing refererence here is based on 's USA East North Virginia, pricing in other datacenters can be higher. also charges extra for I/O with their product, which makes it difficult to predict your costs. does not charge extra for I/O with our redundant. Price Comparison Step 1 "First sight" price (30 Price (30 Price Advantage - cores RAM SSD price (hour) Price (hour) M3 Medium Instance 1 3, ,113 81,36 0, ,41 53% M3 Large Instance 2 7, , ,00 0, ,78 52% M3 Extra Large Instance , ,00 0, ,20 52% does not offer because it is not as useful as, especially in bigger sizes. This first comparison ignores that significant difference and calculates a price based on three common AWS instance sizes, with comparably sized instances. With this simple comparison, is 52% ot 53% less expensive than AWS. But as we'll see in Step 2, with it's difficult to configure the right size instance and you must factor in how Amaon forces you to buy larger instances with resources you don't need. Price Comparison Step 2 "Temporary is not useful" price (30 Price (30 Price Advantage - cores RAM SSD price (hour) Price (hour) M3 Medium Instance 1 3, ,130 93,86 0, ,41 48% M3 Large Instance 2 7, , ,00 0, ,90 48% M3 Extra Large Instance , ,00 0, ,40 48% Page 2 /12

Price Comparison / AWS EC2 M3 Instances If cannot be counted on, why are you forced to buy more of it when what you really want is more CPU or RAM? Price Comparison Step 3 "Don't buy more than you need" For this comparison we changed the view of the instances to form a more realistic use case. Since cannot be used to reliably store valuable data, we altered the scenario to minimize its use to 10 GB, enough for the bootable operating system for the instance. Of course, AWS doesn't allow this flexibility so it's base price on the three instance sizes remains the same, and we added common amounts of fully redundant volumes added to them., does provide this level of flexibility when configuring instances. For pricing in Step 2, a 10 GB boot volume and the same reasonably sized data volume computed for the AWS is used. With this difference in quality and a usable sizing is factored in, the cost advantage is 48%. We aren't finished with this "don't buy what you don't need" analysis. Step 3 takes a closer look at CPU and RAM combinations. For example, what if you need 4 CPU cores? With AWS you are forced to buy 15 GB of RAM if you want 4 CPU cores. What if you need 8 GB of RAM to go along with those 4 CPU cores? does not offer that option. Once again, forces you to buy resources you don t need. let's you configure and buy this combination. Cloud computing is about paying for resources you need and use, it should not force you to buy too few or too many resources. price (30 Price (30 Price Advantage - cores RAM SSD price (hour) Price (hour) M3 Medium Instance 1 3, ,130 93,86 0, ,41 48% if you only need less cores/ram you save even more ,130 93,86 0, ,56 64% ,130 93,86 0, ,96 58% ,130 93,86 0, ,36 53% M3 Large Instance 2 7, , ,00 0, ,90 48% if you only need less cores/ram you save even more , ,00 0, ,00 68% , ,00 0, ,40 65% , ,00 0, ,80 62% Page 3 /12

Shouldn't you be able to buy what you actually need? With, you can customize each instance to your exact needs. This table shows the additional savings that can be achieved for many different combinations if you are able to buy exactly and only as much as you need, like you can with. The scenarios above average 61% in total savings, but what about performance? Step 4 shows how not all cloud CPUs are created equal and how even more cost savings are possible with superior performance. Page 5 /12

Price Comparison / AWS EC2 M3 Instances Price Comparison Step 4 "Consider performance" Profitbricks instances are roughly twice as fast as instances with the same amount of cores and RAM. Don't believe us? Please review our performance benchmarking reports that we publish. In that report, you'll find that for UnixBench (general CPU performance) and DBENCH (disk I/O), is twice as fast as AWS. How? We use InfiniBand networking technology to create a better virtualization platform. One that allows us to dedicate CPU and RAM to individual instances, so resources aren't time- sliced or shared in any way. You get exclusive use of CPU and RAM allocated to your instance, enabling better and more consistent performance than AWS. So, why pay for slow 4 CPU cores when you can buy 2 faster ones at a lower price? If you factor in the 2x speed gains into the price performance calculation you have these results: Minimum 74% Maximum 87% Average 81% Now you understand the waste that goes into how AWS forces customers to purchase instances and how you can save an average of 81% in what you pay. We don't expect you to believe, us though. That's why we invite you to: Try it out yourself with a free trial today! Produced by, Inc.
