Risk is the likelihood that a harmful consequence (death, injury or illness) might result when exposed to a hazard. Risk management is a duty imposed on a person to eliminate the risk and the best way of achieving this is to remove the hazard. If this is not possible the risk must be minimised so far as is reasonably practicable.
