1============================================================ The Current Development and Trend of Cloud Computing Market Kuo-Chieh Lin Cloud Computing has been an emerging technology and new IT-trend for governments, and regarded as major business for vendors. XaaS-related public cloud services, including IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), Paas (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service), are available on the market for years. But considering users' habit and satisfaction of service, it is not easy to provide perfect public cloud services. Providing private cloud services becomes an important interim stage. Requirement differs for private cloud among different industry sectors, it is very important to find solutions to meet different industry requirement. Therefore, several key future developments were summarized from current market and trends. Finally, a strategy was proposed for vertical integration of industry applications via strategic alliances or acquisition. To provide Cloud Computing services that are different from horizontal XaaS services, to satisfy various market demands.
2============================================================ The Current Development and Trend of Cloud Computing Technology Hsin-Yi Chen Kuo-Sheng Lo Cloud Computing belongs to a form of distributed computing and does simultaneous calculations in a lot of computers. Famous Cloud Computing service providers are such large internet companies as Google, Yahoo and Amazon. Tens of thousands of servers comprise a cluster of large calculating resources. Users can store and retrieve information or compute data through the internet. The basic concept of Cloud Computing is derived from Distributed Computing and Grid Computing. Cloud Computing uses network to access the remote computing resources in user resources limited situation [1]. The technology of Cloud Computing can provide a variety of services. In different places, users can make use of the large computing resources to compute, store or retrieve data and access on-line services. The core technologies of Cloud Computing are Hadoop technology and virtualization technology. The future development of Cloud Computing technology will be focused on the storage and access technology of Cloud Computing, the overhead reduction technology of virtualization, the Hadoop technology, the Multi-Tenancy technology, and the Inter-VM security technology. Virtual Machine (VM)
3============================================================ Cloud Computing - Introduction to Virtualization Technology Yhi Shiau Ching-Feng Liu Wei-Jean Bair Hsin-I Hsu Yi-Chin Huang Kuo-Pao Lee Chen Hsiao Wei This paper introduces the significant concepts of virtualization technology in cloud computing. These virtualization technologies include virtualization of virtual server, physical server, storage, switch and firewall / SLB (Server Load Balancer). The virtual server introduces full virtualization, partial virtualization and para-virtualization techniques. The physical server describes the requirements of server, CPU, memory, NIC (Network Interface Card) using in cloud environment. The storage introduces some significant features in cloud, such as thin provision, de-dup, remote mirroring, and snapshot. The switch, firewall and SLB describe the new concepts about virtual switch, virtual firewall and virtual SLB in cloud, respectively.
4============================================================ A Cloud Security Framework Pei-Ming Huang Yan-Zhong Chen Spou-Bo Yun Chien-Chuan Pan Tien-Hao Tsai Chi-Sheng You Hua-Peng Lin Kuo-Sen Chou Cloud computing opens new horizons for the development of computer and network; while users are likely to benefit from this technological revolution, they are also confronted with more security threats. The implementation of security framework in the cloud plays a pivotal role in convincing the customers that their service providers are trustworthy. Understandably, customers would be reluctant to adopt cloud services unless they are assured that the information is well protected. Information security is a critical but complicated issue. Despite all the proposed measures from the experts and researchers for reducing the risks, security incidents still occur. The inherent nature of cloud computing is furthermore accompanied by specific risks. Therefore in this paper we propose an all-encompassing perspective for examining and mitigating the security threats of cloud computing in various aspects, such as the organizational structure, the resource infrastructure, the system maintenance and operations. With the framework proposed in the paper, we hope to promote a best practice for providing security assurance within cloud computing.
5============================================================ Cloud Computing - Introduction to Techniques for Large-scale Data Storage and Processing Peng-Yi Lai Cheng-Ju Yu Chih-Cheng Chien Wei-Ting Lin Yun-Chung Shen Yi-Chin Huang Hsiu-Ming Lin Hsiao-Feng Ye Yhi Shiau In the current era of information explosion, the amount of data created every day has climbed impressively. It leads to cost increase of data storage analysis. To make matters worse, traditional methods of data storage and processing are incapable of dealing with it. Therefore, how to store large-scale data and analyze it efficiently becomes an inevitable problem. For solving it, one of cloud computing techniques, large-scale data storage and processing, was proposed and the most representational one is Hadoop. It can process petabytes of data in a parallel manner on large cluster built of commodity hardware. In addition, it provides high reliability, high efficiency and high scalability. As a robust platform for storing and processing large-scale data, it covers not only core techniques, but also data collection and platform management techniques. Hadoop and MapReduce are two major core techniques. Data collection techniques include FTP and Flume. There are also many platform management techniques such as hardware configuration, automated installation and monitoring. Only all of them integrated well can provide a reliable platform. 6 6============================================================ Cloud Computing: Introduction to Physical-to-Virtual Technology Kun-Hua Tsai Meng-Hsien Lin Chin-Chien Chang Chin-Wei Weng Huei-Fang Lee Hua-Tai Huang Yeh-Chin Ho Cloud-based services are becoming more and more attractive to many enterprises which are seeking to reduce costs on IT environment and increase competitive ability. However enterprises should assess their business needs and IT infrastructures before taking a decision which migrating on-premises servers to a cloud platform. Among all cloud-based technologies, Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) technology is a suitable solution that can help enterprises to cope with the issues above. P2V solution provides several important functions including assessing and migrating on-premises servers to the cloud platform. Besides, it can also support the consolidation plans if enterprises attempt to build their own cloud platforms. By the assistance of the P2V solution, enterprises not only can make sure the feasibility of cloud-based services in their IT environments, but also can carry out the migration of on-premise servers to a cloud platform effectively and fast.
