2 Payroll Scheme We are working with your employer to offer you the opportunity to save or to take one of our Payroll Loans at competitive interest rates, repaid direct from your salary. Once you have established payroll deductions, you can apply for a Payroll Loan for home improvements, car purchases, weddings, holidays, whatever you need. Your repayments or savings with the credit union come direct from your pay. Your employer will not know the purpose of your salary deductions. Interest is charged as a daily proportion of the monthly interest rate and the interest on overdue payments may differ from any examples given. 6 About the credit union What is a Credit Union? Credit Union s provide friendly, affordable and co-operative savings and loan products that are an alternative to high street, high cost and doorstep lenders. Who are the Eastern Savings and Loans Credit Union? Ipswich & Suffolk Credit Union was founded in 2001 and merged with Norfolk Credit Union at the beginning of It now has thousands of members who save when they can, and borrow when they need to. It is a financial co-operative which is owned and managed by its members, with 70 volunteers and twelve paid staff, providing a safe place to save as well as low cost loans. Credit Unions don t pay interest on savings, but can pay dividend when the business is able to. All eligible deposits are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Who can join? Anybody who lives in Norfolk, Suffolk or Cambridgeshire and the employees of partner employer organisations, regardless of where they live. You pay a one-off joining fee of 4 and an initial 1 savings deposit ( 5.00 in total). Anyone over 18 can join as a full member, and there are junior accounts for under-18s. Junior accounts can be opened at no charge. How do I join? Complete the Membership Application form and forward this to the credit union. Don t forget to include copies of two forms of ID, one for you and one for your current address and your joining fee.
