2 CONTEMPORARY RURAL SOCIAL WORK A journal devoted to the development of knowledge and promotion excellence in rural social work. Contemporary Rural Social Work is an on-line journal that provides a forum for the intellectual exchange of ideas that advance rural practice and promote excellence in rural social work. Contemporary Rural Social Work is a publication of the Rural Social Work Caucus and publishes two times annually. Contemporary Rural Social Work publishes scholarly articles, social work practice notes, concepts for best practice in social work education, book and website reviews, and literary or media based reflections on rural culture. The journal encourages submissions of scholarly articles that address current issues related to practice, cultural competence, education, policy, human behavior, diversity, social and economic justice, research, and innovations in the field of rural social work. Articles may be conceptual, empirical, or theoretical and should make substantive contributions to the field. Articles accepted for inclusion in Contemporary Rural Social Work are original works selected though peer-review. Submissions for other categories of work will be also be peer reviewed. Structure Contemporary Rural Social Work will be organized as follows: Editor, selected by the Editorial Board for a three year term. May be reappointed. Guest editors may be selected by the Editorial Board for special editions of the journal. Editorial Board consists of seven to eleven members. Members of the Editorial Board should be selected to reflect geographical diversity. At least two-thirds of the members of the Editorial Board should be members of the Rural Social Work Caucus. The Editorial Board will establish the direction for as well as adopt policy of the journal. Terms for the members of the Editorial Board will be three years. Reappointment for a second three year term may be made. Consulting Editors will be selected for their expertise in rural social work. A minimum of twenty Consulting Editors shall be appointed. Appointments for Consulting Editors will be made by the Editor based on recommendations of the Editorial Board. Consulting Editors will serve three year terms and reappointment for a second three year term may be made.
3 Contemporary Rural Social Work Manuscript Submission Policy Contemporary Rural Social Work is an on-line journal sponsored by the Rural Social Work Caucus that provides a forum for the intellectual exchange of ideas that advance rural practice and promote excellence in rural social work. Submissions to the journal are peer reviewed by at least two consulting editors. The journal publishes scholarly articles, social work practice notes, concepts for best practice in social work education, book and website reviews, and literary or media based reflections on rural culture. The journal encourages submissions of scholarly articles that address current issues related to practice, cultural competence, education, policy, human behavior, diversity, social and economic justice, research, and innovations in the field of rural social work. Articles may be conceptual, empirical, or theoretical and should make substantive contributions to the field. Submissions should contain content that relates to the mission of Contemporary Rural Social Work. Manuscripts should be original work and should not have been previously published or copyrighted. Authors of articles accepted for publication must sign a transfer of ownership of the manuscript. Because this is an electronic journal manuscripts should be submitted by as attachments. Submissions of must be in either MS Word or HTML. If accepted for publication, the author must submit the final version in HTML. Articles will be published online. Manuscripts may be submitted to: Editor: Peggy Pittman-Munke [email protected] Format: All submissions should have author identification information. This information should be on a separate page and include: Author(s) names Author(s) affiliation (s) address Phone number Scholarly manuscripts should follow guidelines in the American Psychological Association s Publication Manual. The manuscript should also have a 100 word abstract and three to five key terms that relate to the article.
4 Other types of submissions do not need an abstract, but should follow the APA style where appropriate. Photo images should be submitted in JPEG in high resolution. There are no page limits on the length of the manuscript, but the manuscripts should be concise and the length appropriate to the topic.
