MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES By engaging successfully with this module a student will be able to Identify key aspects of project management and apply them to their own work Provide evidence of their contribution to a consultancy project Describe and assess the development of their own skills Analyse and reflect upon their own employability Provide evidence of the development of their own reflective powers INDICATIVE CONTENT These are examples of the content of the module Students will run and reflect upon work on their own consultancy project in accordance with established principles of project management. Key features of the module include: Developing project specifications Timelines, risk and quality assurance Decision making and problem solving Leadership, delegation and co-operation Communication strategies The development of professional responsibility Completion and review Reflecting on skills The enhancement of your employability LEARNING AND TEACHING METHODS Students will be supported in their learning, to achieve the above outcomes, in the following ways This module makes use of the opportunities provided for consultancy projects in the university by Venture Matrix. Venture Matrix has extensive links with external organisations and provides students with an opportunity to work on a project or activity for these clients. These consultancy projects take place within the university in accordance with a broad remit set by these external groups. A lecture programme outlining principles of project management Seminars to facilitate the collective work of students on their consultancy projects

Credit will be given to drawing connections between the literature on project management and their own experience of working on a project. 1 st Develops a sophisticated argument in which the principles of project management are applied, commented upon and evaluated 2.1 Provides a clear discussion of the relevance of specific features of project management 2.2 Provides illustrations showing the relevance of project management 3 rd Shows some evidence of some general knowledge of project management Provide evidence of their contribution to a consultancy project Students will be judged on the quality of the project they submit. This project will be evaluated on the clarity of aims, methods and outcomes. Students will be expected to show their individual contribution to the project and how this sits in the project created by their group Ist Shows some excellent work on the consultancy project, displaying well designed aims, appropriate methods and clear outcomes. 2.1 Clear and well argued contribution to the consultancy
3 project in which the aims, methods and outcomes are addressed. 2.2 Descriptive work on the Consultancy project, showing less evidence of a structured approach to the work. Describe and assess the Students will be judged upon development of their own skills their ability to distinguish between key skills, show how these are developed and consider ways in which skills can be developed. 3rd Provides some evidence of their personal contribution to the consultancy project, but lacking any clear distinction between aims, methods and outcomes 1st Detailed critical examination of key skills they have developed and reflections on how these skills could be developed further 2.1 Discussion of their existing skills and thoughts on future development 2.2 Some description of the key skills they have developed, but little by way of how these skills could be developed Analyse and reflect upon their own employability Students will be judged on their conceptualisation of employability and upon their ability to apply this 3rd Some acknowledgement of key skills, though relatively little on how these skills were developed and how they could be developed further 1st Excellent reflections and precision in characterising their own employability and its future development, placing this within the context of relevant literature concept to their own activity and development 2.1 Clear discussion of the nature of employability and ways to enhance it 2.2 Contains some illustrations
