8 ESIF Priority: Business Competitiveness 15.8m Growth companies & supply chains in priority sectors & economically significant industries e.g. tourism, care, construction Business support for all ages and stages inc. internationalisation

9 ESIF Priority: Business Competitiveness Why? Too many businesses in the surviving/maintaining end Clusters need to be strengthened Business support is not joined up Growth - winners and losers e.g. Jobs variable up 10% in Brighton, down 10% Croydon since 2009

10 ESIF Priority: Low carbon: 5.7m Stimulate Low Carbon Environmental Goods and Services sector Stimulate demand for low carbon technologies across the economy Why? Economic growth in CtoC will bring environmental challenges LCEGs sector is currently embryonic

11 ESIF Priority: Skills for growth & productivity 14.3m Higher level and technical skills for our priority sectors Leadership and management STEM skills & languages for the global economy High quality information advice and guidance Why? The forecast growth in jobs in CtoC is in highly skilled jobs Lower skilled jobs are declining Young people without the right skills are at a disadvantage in the labour market
