3 1. Overview interviewscribe is the tool for speech dictation. Management by the phrase Phrase is the pieces of the audio data. interviewscribe is managed audio by the phrase. By dividing the phrase, You can transcribe to each do a short phrase. With interviewscribe, you can proceed transcribe work smoothly. Specific features for Transcribe interviewscribe has features that are specific to the transcribe work: Can set free playback position, Can adjust playback speed, and adjust the playback quality. Cooperation with the OS X Mountain Lion s Dictation In addition, you can also take advantage of the features of OS X Mountain Lion's "Dictation". Characteristic of this function is to make the phrase playback along with the "Dictation". You can convert a phrase audio into a text by this feature. 4 2. Prepare for transcribe 2.1. Assign the audio file Assign source audio file to new document by [File] - [Assign Audio...] menu. Extension of audio files that can be selected are listed below.. aif,. mp3,. mp4,. m4v,. m4a,. aifc,. aiff,. wav, it is. caf. Audio file is assigned, a copy is preserved in the document, so as not to violate the Rights of the audio file, when you distribute the document, please be careful. In interviewscribe, audio data allocated is handled as 22.1kHz mono(l+r). Assignment is completed, the phrase will be automatically generated according to the default settings. You can subsequently adjust the phrase if the phrase is not properly generated because the low sound pressure or the environmental noise is large. Can't re-assign another audio file after assignment. 5 2.2. Playback Operation First select the output device, and other operations are same as the general player. By using the shortcut key [PlayBack] menu, playback operation is efficient work is possible. After pause playback, it is possible to start playing back the specified seconds, before the pause time start position and range of the playback Start position can be set by clicking on any point in the Outline Spectrum View and Detail Spectrum View. 7 2.4. Adjust the phrase If auto generated phrase is not appropriate, you can adjust the phrase Reset the phrase You can regenerate the phrase by Adjust Phrase tab. 8 Join phrases You can join the phrase that is finely divided. Select phrase in the Phrase View, and instruct the [Phrase] - [Join] menu, Phrase is joined next phrase. Set the playback position that you want to split by "Detail Spectrum View", and instruct the [Phrase] - [Divide] menu, Phrase is divided two phrases.

10 3. Transcribe Operation 3.1. Select the target phrase Selection of the phrase is performed by the following procedure. Click on the Phrase View Click on the Phrase List move the selected row in the phrase list by key. (Valid when the phrase list is active) move the selected row in the phrase list by key

11 3.2. Edit of the phrase text Select a phrase and select the "Phrase Text" tab. In this state, you will be able to change the edit mode. instruct the [Phrase] - [Text Edit] press the Edit button under the Phrase Text tab Edit mode status can be confirmed by the Edit button s state. When in edit mode, text editing is enabled, and text input can be performed. Text that you enter is stored in the phrase at the time the edit mode is turned off, part of the input text is displayed on the "Content" column of the "Phrase List" and "Phrase View". And display color of the phrase in the "Phrase View" is green as well. Becomes continuous editing mode, when check Continuous Editing. In continuous editing mode, when you end the edit mode, the following phrase is enter to edit mode automatically. However, if you turn off the edit mode by pressing the Edit button, next phrase doesn't enter to edit mode.

Input the text by use OS X Mountain Lion s Dictation If a high-quality voice*, you can edit text efficiently using the function "Dictation" of OS X Mountain Lion. *Meaning of high-quality voice is high ratio SN and smooth tongue of the speaker is good Setting the OS X Mountain Lion s Dictation side Displays the settings panel of the "Dictation & Speech" in the "System Preferences". 1.Select the input device Select the audio input device that can input from interviewscribe output device. For example, select the built-in speaker as interviewscrib's output and select the built-in microphone as "Dictation"'s input. So you can capture the audio. 2.Select the shortcut Please select a shortcut in the red frame that can be supported by interviewscribe 3.Select the Language Select the language you want to transcribe. * "Dictation" needs Internet connection.

13 Setting the interviewscribe side Select the output device to flow to the input of the "Dictation". Fit the shortcut that you set in the "Dictation" shortcut by Preferences tab. Then, set the playback of the phrase for the dictating process by [PlayBack] - [Enable Playback for System Dictation] menu or Playback for System Dictation button.

14 Use Dictation Select the phrase and enter text-editing mode. Start the Dictation by [Edit] - [Start Dictation] menu or shortcut, then start playback automatically. (Under the on state of the "Enable Playback for System Dictation " button) After playback is complete, direct the completion of the dictation. and then result of the dictation appear in the text-edit view. Here, we present a method for use in such an environment. This technique uses a virtual AudioDevice called Soundflower. Soundflower is a free virtual AudioDevice are distributed by cycling74.com. Use the utility software that Soundflowerbed, it is possible to output to other output devices. So you can proceed while checking the sound reproduced by the headphone. 16 3.4. Classify the Talker You can classify talkers even if there is more than one talker. (Such as the questioner and respondent talker, or in a meeting) Talker can register by Talker tab. and talker can link to phrase by "Who"column of the "Phrase List".

17 3.5. The resulting output You can get the final result by join the text of each phrase after transcribing is finished.join the text of each phrases in "Dictated Text" tab. You can also be inserted as a header to each phrase. and you can include a speaker and time in the header. The format of the header is based on SRT form. So can use the dictated result of the mp4 movie file as subtitles text. You can also insert the line breaks at Punctuation (.!?!) and white space. You can edit a direct text in the "Dictated Text" tab. The content is saved for a document. You can save it as a text file by [file] - [Export... ] menu.
