Besides the Fulbright Foundation, he is also granted by National Science Council (NSC) in Taiwan, and the Chiang Ching-Kuo (CCK, the former President of Taiwan) Foundation. Prof Lin is a Professor of the Department of Land Economics at the National ChengChi University, which is the top real estate program in Taiwan. His research focuses on real estate investment and finance, asset securitization, appraisal, derivative securities, and real estate developments. Prof. Lin published numerous articles in real estate and finance journals in Chinese and English as well as three textbooks: Real Estate Investment Management, Financial Derivative Instrument and Futures and Options. Prof. Lin s Real Estate Investment Management is the most popular real estate-related textbook in Taiwan and in Chinese world. 1

2 Real Estate Investment Management": Financial Derivative Instrument : Prior to visiting UC Berkeley, Prof. Lin also visited and lectured to the MBA Program at the Business School of Appalachian State University in North Carolina, and the EMBA Program at the Management School of Beijing University of Technology in the early 2000s. Prof. Lin regularly lectures on the nationwide education TV channel and serves as a Board Director of the Asian Real Estate Society (AsRES) and the Association of Housing Studies, the top real estate academic association in Taiwan. Prof. Lin is a member of the Board for the government in reviewing REIT IPO cases in Taiwan, an expert witness in multiple real estate 2

3 appraisal dispute cases, and a member of the Board of Director of listed Shuang-Bang Corp. He also serves as expert consultants on complex financial cases such as BOT, urban redevelopment, and MRT district development for various government entities. Prior to joining National ChengChi University, Prof. Lin had served as a Professor and the department chair at the National Taichung Institute of Technology and an Associate Professor at the ChaoYang University. He received his Ph.D. in real estate finance from Texas A&M University. Besides academic papers, Prof Lin writes columns for the newspapers, and gives speeches to the academic, industry and investors. His viewpoint highly draws attentions from the public. During the worst time of global financial crisis, Prof. Lin gave a public speech to the government in Taiwan in November 2008, forecasting that the real estate and stock markets would rebound by the mid-2009 based on the macro-economy and loose monetary policies implemented by most countries in the world. His forecast was proven very correct.
