Program Management is defined as the co-ordinated management of a related series of projects over a specific period of time in order to accomplish broad business goals, to which the individual projects contribute. Having successfully introduced the core skills of project management, we are now providing you with the opportunity to develop your skills further, preparing you to take on greater responsibility and progress onwards in your careers, whilst earning another internationally recognised certificate with a Masters Certificate in Program Management from George Washington University and ESI International. This course of study will also help prepare you for the Project Management Institute Program Management Professional (PgMP ) Certification. Our goal with PMC has been to improve the long term capacity for project management in Georgia, and by introducing this new curriculum, we are taking another great step towards achieving this. It will allow companies in Georgia to build their project organizations according to world class standards, and develop a team of managers capable of thinking and acting strategically and delivering programs that contribute to greatly improved overall performance. 5 Course Outline The PMC Program Management Curriculum can lead to two globally recognised certifications: The PgMP certificate awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI ), and the Masters Certificate in Program Management awarded by George Washington University and ESI International. The PgM Curriculum consists of seven courses, each of which are 3 days in duration, delivered over a period of months, mainly during weekends. Students will be required to attend every full 8-hour day of classroom training, and pass an end-of course exam in order to be eligible for course completion and the Masters Certificate Upon completing the seven courses, participants are well prepared to take the PMI Program Management Professional Exam, and may proceed to take the exam, subject to meeting PMI eligibility criteria. All courses will be taught in English language by ESI International s qualified instructors, who have a wealth of hands on project and program management experience that makes for a truly captivating and inspiring learning experience. Program Management The role of the program manager has evolved today from managing multiple projects to implementing high level business strategy through an integrated portfolio of projects. This often involves multiple teams of professionals and executive level stakeholders. As a program manager you need to have a firm grasp of project management but also a set of business, marketing and leadership skills that differ vastly from the project manager. Case studies designed to simulate the environment of a real project in trouble will allow you to build up your skill set and know what to do when trouble strikes. 6 Requirements Management: A Key to Project Success This course goes far beyond requirements gathering and deals with requirements management. Discuss the latest practices for requirements management from concept through to closeout, and how to properly select techniques and tools for each specific project type. Explore evaluation techniques that allow you to verify requirements early in the project life-cycle so as to avoid costly rework further down the line. Learn how to manage scope creep and clashes between project sponsors and project sponsors, through relationship management and negotiation techniques. Apply a requirements management process to a project life-cycle Use proper evaluation techniques to verify and gain agreement upon requirements that meet specific business and technical objectives Identify formal and informal techniques to manage stakeholder relationships within the requirements management process Implement a change management process to control scope creep Leading High-Performing Teams Teams make decisions every day, and they deal with dilemmas and unplanned events that must be resolved within specified times, budgets and other parameters. 7 Critical Thinking & Problem Solving Through this course you will address the five types of critical thinking required in business environments; strategic, tactical, analytical and implicative. You will also learn a fivestep problem response process, covering; identifying and analysing problems and opportunities, analysing the environment, exploring potential responses and selecting and implementing the optimal response. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the concepts to a specific problem or opportunities from within their own business environments. It will give you the necessary tools to make sound financial decisions for your business unit. Whether your goal is to stay on budget, increase overall cost savings or meet specific profitability targets, real-world exercises will help you become familiar with standard financial documents, and use budget and estimating methods and tools more effectively. Specifically, you ll review and discuss commonly used financial metrics to not only understand the numbers, but also to explore the not-so-obvious financial impacts of typical operating decisions and actions from a project to organizational level. After completing this course, you ll know how to gather, compile and prioritize financial data to develop, execute and manage a budget. You will also be better able to communicate financial and budgetary information, have greater confidence in assessing finances, and participate more effectively in the business decision-making process. 8 PMC Application Procedure Eligibility Criteria Advanced level of English language. Applicants must pass a language test prior to being accepted by the PMC. All applicants must have at least 5 years in managing projects and have completed the PMC Masters Certificate in Project Management OR have successfully passed the PMI PMP Exam. All applicants must be Georgian citizens to be eligible for BP and its Oil and Gas Co-venturers subsidy scheme. Funding The full cost of tuition for all seven courses is $9,900. However, BP & it s Oil & Gas Co-venturers are pleased to once again subsidize the cost of the training by 60%. Therefore, the total cost payable by participants is just: $3,960 Participants will be required to pay the amount of $3,960 in full prior to the start of the program Self-Sponsored Applicants The PMC may accept applicants who have advanced English language skills, but not necessarily meet all the above-mentioned eligbility criteria, provided they pay for the full (100%) tuition fee themselves.
