1 THE CENTRE FOR LABOUR MANAGEMENT RELATIONS The Centre for Labour Management Relations (CLMR) at Ryerson University is a multi-disciplinary research centre that seeks to promote collaborative, ethical, entrepreneurial, proactive and sustainable best-practice labour-management relations through 1.) funding academic research and 2.) hosting knowledge mobilization events (e.g., conferences, symposia and workshops). Since 2010 the CLMR has provided funding to over 45 research projects ( and through our Spring / Summer 2015 Request for Proposals we hope to fund up to seven new research projects thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors ( Up to seven grants will be awarded up to $7,500. All Ryerson University full-time tenured, tenure-track, and limited-term faculty members from the Arts, Communication and Design, Community Services, Engineering and Architectural Science, Science, and the Ted Rogers School of Management are invited to submit an Application by Friday, May 22, 2015 at 05:00 p.m. Note that the Assessment Committee may not be familiar with the abbreviations, acronyms, jargon and highly technical language used within your discipline. Your responses should be described in plain language and with enough detail to allow for the informed assessment by someone with no specialized knowledge of the particular field of research. The Assessment Committee is under no obligation to review responses to questions in excess of prescribed character limits. A. REQUIRED AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES Principal Investigators and their respective Research Teams are required to: 1. Upon completion of the research project, present research project findings in an open forum that extends to an audience beyond academics (e.g., a blog post, an editorial piece, a YouTube video, a lunch and learn session, a panel discussion, etc.); and 2. Upon completion of the research project, provide the CLMR with two single-spaced pages of text presenting research project findings to be used in developing executive summaries, as well as copies of pre-print/post-print publications resulting from research project findings, to be posted on the CLMR website.
4 C1. In addition to these two requirements, what other community engagement and/or knowledge mobilization outcomes do you expect for this research project? Please ensure that the scope of outcomes you are proposing are proportional to the budget being requested and the timeline of the project. If you plan on engaging community partners, please specific their role in ensuring the success of this project. D. EXPECTED TIMELINE Grants will be awarded for a one-year period (e.g., Wednesday, July 01, 2015 Friday, July 29, 2016). In exceptional circumstances an extension of up to six (6) months may be granted upon written request to the CLMR before the expiration of the Term. D1. Please provide a realistic timeline of major milestones for this project, bearing in mind that grants will be awarded for a one-year period (e.g., Wednesday, July 01, 2015 Friday, July 29, 2016). E. EXPECTED BUDGET The Grant shall only be used for the direct costs of research, stipends for research assistants, the direct costs of research dissemination (excluding travel and subsistence related to research dissemination) and science promotion, and other specific expenses as more particularly described in the Use of Grant Funds section of the Tri-Agency Financial Administration Guide as interpreted by the rules and policies of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council in whose domain the majority of the research falls.
