3 SPCHS Overview Mission: Students will earn a high school diploma, an Associate in Arts degree and qualify for Bright Futures scholarship. Vision: We are dedicated to cultivating motivated learners, developing critical thinkers and empowering visionary leaders. Core Values: Students First Integrity Collaborative Learning Continual Improvement Mutual Respect Family/Friendly Environment Minimum Admissions requirements: Unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher Passing grades in Algebra I, Biology I Minimum scores on the PERT The Selection Process: Mandatory Information Session (parent & student) Selection by random lottery process Admissions Timeline: Info. sessions (January/February) Applications due (Mid-February) Acceptance notification sent (March) Benefits: No cost to students Best of high school and college Students well prepared to excel as they continue post-secondary education 3

4 St. Petersburg Collegiate H.S. St. Petersburg Collegiate High School The Pre-Collegiate Program emphasizes instruction to prepare 10 th grade students for success in college-level coursework. Students take high school courses and one or two college courses each term. Typical college courses are Career and Life Planning, The College Experience, and mathematics course(s) based on students needs. The Collegiate Program supports 11 th and 12 th grade students who are fully dually enrolled in college coursework on the SPC campus, leading to completion of the requirements for a high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree from SPC. Students are guided in course selection by the academic advisor and guidance counselor. 4

5 Student Engagement/Support Career Advising and Guidance: Assistance in course selection and registration to meet high school, A.A., and Bright Futures requirements Career exploration and assistance in successfully navigating the college system Parent/student workshops provided by guidance counselor and academic advisor Guidance with academic, social, and emotional concerns Free textbooks, bus passes, lunch vouchers for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch, and laptop lending program Free tutoring is provided to all SPC students. Tutoring is offered on campus and online. The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) supports a wide variety of school events and student needs at SPCHS. 5

8 SPCHS Highlights One Bank of America Student Leader One SPC Apollo Award finalist One National Merit Commended Scholar Our 80 seniors were awarded over $2.4 million dollars in scholarships. SPCHS seniors gave 5,800 hours of community service. 37 seniors held a leadership roles Three students selected to study abroad through Rotary Youth Exchange Florida Program Eight students were recognized by SPC faculty at the annual awards program for scholarship, leadership or service. Notable college and universities include American University, Elmira College, Brigham Young University, Ringling College of Art and Design, New College of Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and John Cabot University in Rome. 8

9 Alumni Accomplishments Salina Som graduated from SPCHS/SPC in 2014 and was awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship. While pursuing her degree at UF, she has already become a paid lab assistant at the United States Department of Agriculture conducting research to help Florida farmers. Nhi Do, graduated from SPCHS/SPC with her high school diploma as class valedictorian and SPCHS s first Apollo Award Winner in Nhi recently graduated from the University of Florida with honors and was accepted into graduate school at UF to become a Physician s Assistant. Yao Dong graduated from SPCHS/SPC in He is a former undergraduate research assistant at The Cartilage Tissue Engineering Lab in La Jolla California. He graduated in 2014 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Bio Medical Engineering. Amanda Emery graduated from SPCHS/SPC with her high school diploma and an AA degree in She was the Outstanding Graduate and received the King O Neal Scholar award for the College of Business at USF in She interned over the summer at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the field of auditing and earned her Master of Business (M.B.A.) in Forensic Accounting from USF in She is currently an Assurance Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers. 9
