My Favorite Energizers Use of Time One of my core coaching topics is helping leaders KNOW their "energizing activities" and INVEST time each week in these activities. Why? We know for a fact that these energizing activities re-charge the emotional batteries. (critical for leadership) The Birkman assessment is the best tool to accurately identify these energizers. Take a look at my list below and see if it gives you a few ideas: Clerical *(92): I give myself the green light to not only straighten my desk/office daily. Instead of saying "I don't have time" I know say "this is life giving." Usually only 10 minutes a day does the trick. Mechanical *(82): There are two ways I spend time on this energizing activity; downloading and trying out new apps and doing house repairs. I try to spend one late afternoon checking out a few apps and then am pretty faithful to 1

2 schedule at least a half day on the weekend to get my hands dirty and one late afternoon Social Service *(71): In addition to coaching, I try to spend Mondays developing my online business that is designed to deliver self leadership content to mass market. The goal is to be of service to anyone that needs what I am offering. New Client Sharon Buck, Independent National Sales Director (Mary Kay Cosmetics) Odds & Ends Wedding Bells - Dr. Baxter and Dianne's youngest son, Connor (21) just married Ally Wagner (Dallas, TX) on May 16th. They plan to live in Dallas this summer and then move to Branson, MO to coach/mentor high school graduates through the 9 month LinkYear program at Kanakuk ministries. Outdoor *(70): This one is easy. Spend time daily out in my "urban barn" either tending to my plants or smoking meats. Also, I try to make sure I do some coaching with clients in my outside office. Even if you don't know your scores of your energizing activities, you need to pay attention to activities are life giving and then proactively spend time on those activities (guilt free). You will lead better if you are emotionally recharging on a weekly basis.
