(No Writing test is required.) Students who have a cum GPA of and one qualifying ACT or SAT test score must have a minimum CORE score of 150 (Math) or 156 (Reading). (No Writing test is required.) 1
2 Testing Scenarios: Do I need to take any of the Praxis 1 CORE tests? If you have taken the SAT, ACT, or GRE tests, you may be exempt from part or all of the Praxis I tests. Graduate Students Only: If your undergraduate cumulative GPA (or Master s degree cumulative GPA) is 3.0 or above, you are not required to provide any test scores at admissions. If your cum. undergraduate GPA is less than 3.0 ( ), you must provide passing scores on the Praxis 1 tests or the SAT, ACT or GRE as specified on page 1 table (examples follow). If one SAT score qualifies: You must meet the following requirements (no Writing tests are required): If your SAT Critical Reading score is 530 or above, you must only pass the Praxis 1 test in Math OR have an ACT score of 20 or above. If your SAT Math score is above 530, you must only take the Praxis 1 test in Critical Reading OR have an ACT Reading score of 24 or above. If one ACT test score qualifies: You must meet the following requirements (no Writing tests are required): If your ACT Reading score is at least 24, you must only pass the Praxis 1 test in Math OR have an SAT Critical Reading score of 530 or above. If your ACT Math score is at least 20, you must only pass the Praxis 1 test in Reading OR have an SAT Critical Reading score of 530 or above. When using one Praxis 1 test score in combination with SAT or ACT test: If GPA 3.0 or above, use passing math or reading score in table (page 1) If GPA is , use passing math or reading score in table (page 1) If I take one or more of the Praxis I CORE tests, what are the scoring requirements? The Praxis I tests have individual cut (minimum) scores, and a composite score. If your overall GPA is , and you are taking all three PPST tests (Reading, Math, and Writing) you must earn a composite score that is equal to the total of the three cut scores as follows: Praxis 1 CORE: = 468 Note: It is permissible to achieve the composite score while having one or more individual scores up to three points below the cut for that individual test. If your overall GPA is 3.0 or above, and you are taking all three Praxis 1 tests (Reading, Math, and Writing) you only need to meet the minimum passing scores from table on page 1 (no composite score is required). Examples follow of acceptable and unacceptable scoring combinations, with cut scores in parentheses: Acceptable: Math 147 (150) Reading 156 (156) Writing 167 (162) Composite: 470 The lowest score is 3 points below the cut. Acceptable: Math 152 (150) Reading 155 (156) Writing 161 (162) Composite: 468 Two scores (reading and writing) are fewer than 3 points below the cut. Not acceptable: Math 153 (150) Reading 150 (156) Writing 163 (162) Composite: 466 The composite score is 466, and it must be 468 or above. The Reading test would need to be retaken for a score of at least 153 (3 points below cut). Important note: If you took one or more of the Praxis I PPST tests (no longer available after August 31 st, 2014) and attained passing score(s), these are acceptable. Please contact the OTE with any questions about combining Praxis 1 PPST and CORE scores at See page 5 to review PPST score requirements. 2
