Facilitated Leelanau County Summer ELA meeting Attended Leelanau county superintendents meetings TBAISD purchased a three year site license for your district to access CareerCruising.com, a career exploration and educational development planning tool website. 2
3 General Education (continued) Leadership Development & Administrator Support TBAISD Administrative and Instructional Services staff provided regular leadership development and administrator support through monthly meetings of the TBAISD Superintendents Association, Elementary Principals Association, Middle School Principals Association, and Secondary Principals Association. TBAISD staff also facilitate regular monthly meetings of the local district business office officials and the local technology directors. Additional support for administrators is provided through the spring and fall leadership retreats, the annual Leadership Academy, and the on-line collaborative SharePoint sites hosted by TBAISD and available to all area administrators. Regional Curriculum and Assessment Development TBAISD hosted a variety of curriculum development work sessions in the areas of writing, English Language Arts, science, and mathematics to develop pacing guides and common assessments, align curriculum, create rubrics and checklists and identify supplemental and web-based instructional materials. Sessions offered included: Grades six, seven and eight writing Pre-K through 2nd grade writing Grades three, four and five writing Grades three through eight math Grades nine through twelve English Language Arts Grades five twelve science Curriculum materials, pacing guides and assessments developed during these work sessions have been posted on the TBAISD web site for local district and classroom use. All participating teachers received instruction on valid and reliable assessment design and interpretation with follow-up support to teachers on using assessment results to differentiate and improve instruction to students. Data Management and Analysis General Education also provides achievement data management and analysis. Your district received: Report of district MEAP performance across four years and comparison to state and all other regional schools. Specific disaggregation of achievement data on demand. Support to elementary in assessment of early literacy and a reporting format to track student literacy progress. Facilitation and planning with administrative associations for a regional performance management system and 2008 MEAP and MME data are provided on the following pages. 3

6 General Education (continued) Suttons Bay Michigan Merit Exam (MME) Historical Trend REMC 2 Central Media Services Your district accessed materials for instructional support, attended technology trainings, and received a substantial cost savings on materials, video integration, and technology purchases through our regional media service. Savings from Cooperative Bid Purchasing: $8, United Streaming digital video library access: 557 views/downloads Discovery Education Subscription Savings to access United Streaming: $4,830 Movie licensing savings: $350 Number of Book Sets, Videos, DVDs, etc. checked out of resource library: 198 In addition: REMC offered 27 technology trainings. REMC saves local districts an average of $100 per day in postage. REMC negotiated a 50% discount for Movie Licensing USA subscriptions. REMC hosted or assisted with 110 virtual field trips or videoconferencing events. 6
7 Special Education TBAISD Special Education staff provides service and support for your staff and students, as well as assistance with federal and state requirements. A compilation of the work that is accomplished on your district s behalf includes: Data and Compliance: Data collection, analysis, and reporting for December Federal Count Continuous Improvement Focused Monitoring/Educational Benefit Review Medicaid management, training, support Technical assistance with Rules, Regulations, Complaints and Hearings Curriculum Extension Guidelines Training Chair, Monitor IEPs Monitor class size/caseload Attend Child Study Mediation with parents Advising on legal issues Assistance to new teachers Monthly newsletter TBAISD Center Programs Eighteen (18) students from Suttons Bay Public with the following disabilities participated in TBAISD programs: Autism Spectrum Disorder Cognitively Impaired Emotional Impairment Severely Multiply Impaired Early Childhood Developmental Delay In addition to classroom-based activities, 3 of the 18 received Teacher Consultant services, 10 received Speech and Language services, 4 received Early Childhood services, 1 received School Social Work services, 5 received Physical Therapy services, 7 received Occupational Therapy services and 2 received Health services. Special Education in Suttons Bay Public One hundred and fifty-three (153) students from Suttons Bay Public received special education services. Of those, one hundred and ninteen (119) students received special education services from Suttons Bay Public School teachers. Some students received additional services from TBAISD special education staff. These include: 47 students received Speech and Language services 17 students received Occupational Therapy services 19 students received School Social Work services 3 students received Teacher Consultant services 2 students received Physical Therapy services 1 student received Orientation and Mobility services 7
8 Career and Technical Education TBAISD s Career-Tech Center (CTC) serves nineteen area high schools and over 1,000 students. Students are educated in twenty-three occupational areas with each program offering academics integrated with technical training. CTC students also participate in a daily work ethic program and build career skills. Programs are offered within the career pathways of: Arts and Communications; Health Services; Human Services; Business Management, Marketing, and Technology; Natural Resources and Agriscience; and Engineering/Manufacturing and Industrial Technology. 9 Business, Human Resources,Technology, and Administrative Services Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District is a model in the use of technology, administrative, and business services to support school district operations. TBAISD s business and technology department staff offer a range of individualized and cost-effective regional services, including but not limited to: Administrative and Business office training Attendance and Membership audits Substitute Teacher training Cooperative Purchasing Data sharing Regional Initiative Coordination On-line Bloodborne Pathogen Training and support Professional Associations, including Regional School Boards, Superintendent and Principal Associations, Northwest Michigan School Business Officials, Technology Representatives.
