3 AMPI Strategic objectives 1/2 1- Determine effective policy solutions to advance Mobile Financial Services (MFS) in Africa: Facilitate the development of policy and regulatory frameworks for MFS, through an enhanced cooperation amongst policymakers & regulators in Africa. The cooperation, via AMPI activities, should also involve private sectors players, development partners and research institutions. 4 AMPI Strategic objectives 2/2 Help to launch new or to expand on existing MFS policy & regulatory initiatives 2- Serve as a peer learning platform for AFI members in Africa to coordinate efforts and share knowledge and experiences on MFS issues. 3- Facilitate High-Level Discussion amongst Leaders with the view to identify barriers that impede the uptake of MFS in Africa and to harmonize regulations related to MFS AMPI The African Mobile Phone Financial Services Policy Initiative 4

Mapping of comparative case studies on policy and regulatory implications of new business models which increase the provision of a full range of technology-enabled financial services and products to the poor and low income people in Africa 2. Facilitating interaction amongst AFI African members on MFS related topics (through member zone discussions, thematic workshops, High-level policy makers and regulators meetings) AMPI The African Mobile Phone Financial Services Policy Initiative 5

6 AMPI (proposed) Activities - 2/3 3. Facilitating the advancement of researches and studies on policy, regulation and supervision of MFS and related technology based financial services 4. Provide support for implementing Maya Declaration commitments relating to MFS AMPI The African Mobile Phone Financial Services Policy Initiative 6

7 AMPI (proposed) Activities - 3/3 5. Liaising with AFI Working Groups on technical issues and inform AFI African members appropriately. 6. Facilitating (in collaboration with the AFI Secondment Program) knowledge exchange visits for practical issues on MFS. 7. Facilitating the cooperation on MFS regulatory issues, through an enhanced dialogue between regulators and the other stakeholders (private sectors players, development partners, research institutions, etc..). 8 AMPI Help Desk 1/2 Proposed structure Virtual network secretariat with members from AFI African member Institutions. The virtual secretariat (Help Desk) will be coordinated by the AFI Management Unit. The Help Desk will liaise with AFI members, private sector players, development partners and research institutions to facilitate information flow and knowledge sharing.
