1 HP Medical Archive solution Data sheet HP Medical Archive solution (MAS) is a specialised platform to help global healthcare providers, hospitals and imaging clinics of all sizes address exploding medical image retention requirements. HP MAS is registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Class 1 Medical Device, which mandates that HP follow the FDA's good manufacturing practices (GMP) to ensure that product functionality is consistently maintained in accordance with HP go-to-market messaging and strategies.

With HP MAS, data is highly available, as native auto-failover capabilities enable continuous access to the archive without impacting imaging application operations. 7 HP Medical Archive solution Available standard products and option upgrades HP MAS HP MAS is composed of multiple Infrastructure and Storage Nodes which form a unified archive based on a grid architecture. Each Node consists of multiple integrated and included software services operating on an HP ProLiant server that manages a limited capacity storage resource. The Infrastructure Nodes are: Gateway Node, Control Node and the Admin/Gateway Node. Various types/capacities of Storage and Combo (Control/Storage) Nodes are available in SAN, SAS, SATA and Tape media. All Infrastructure (Admin/Gateway, Gateway, Control) Nodes are built on the compact HP ProLiant DL320s storage server, and each consumes only 2U rack space. HP SIM and NMM are included in the MAS OS. SAN and Tape Storage Nodes are built on the DL380 G5 server. HP MAS Base System Bundled HP MAS 6.0 TB Base System: A 14U rack provides 6.0 TBs of storage and is composed of one Admin/Gateway Node and two unique 3 TB SATA Control/Storage/Gateway Nodes for object management. The included pair of Control/Storage/Gateway Nodes can manage 137M objects before requiring additional Control Nodes for increased object management (see the following building block descriptions). Non-bundled HP MAS Base System A 42U rack provides management switches and houses the appropriate Infrastructure and Storage Nodes (see the following node descriptions). Additional space is available in the base system rack for up to 160 TB of storage. Many different sizes and configurations are available (not bundled) and start as small as 2.0 TB of usable storage. HP MAS software includes full grid support for the following: scalability, load-balancing, management and system monitoring; integrated content indexing and retrieval; data retention and quarantine management; access and security management; tamper protection with digitally encrypted fingerprints, data authentication, auditing and selective WORM on disk; end-user (imaging application) search and access via the standard Web-UI; integrated HP SIM and NNM for comprehensive system status monitoring. Expansion Rack To expand either a 6.0 TB bundle (14U rack) or a full size, non-bundled grid, either additional 6.0 TB MAS bundles or full size 42U racks can be added for additional storage capacity and object management. These base racks support a wide variety of Infrastructure Nodes based on the growth and management requirements of the imaging environment. Storage Capacity Upgrade HP enables integration of four storage tiers within the MAS grid. Storage Node options include external (and existing) SAN arrays; SAS; SATA; and Tape. SAN nodes (DL380 G5 server) consist of a server and Fibre Channel host-bus adaptor to connect HP MAS to the external SAN array and provide between 2.5 and 32 TB of storage. SAS Storage Nodes provide 3.0 or 4.5 TB of storage. SATA Storage Nodes provide 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 or 10.0 TB of storage. The Tape Storage Node (DL380 G5 server) enables integration with any external third party tape library that can interface with Tivoli Storage Manager. All types and capacities of Storage Nodes provide secure data storage and transmission, replicate data throughout the grid and consist of a server and StorageWorks disk arrays ranging in type and capacity (RAID-6 drives). Multiple Storage Nodes can be added to the grid depending on capacity requirements and the need for redundancy. Encryption and compression are applied on the Storage Nodes. Storage Capacity Upgrade Combo Combo Nodes provide the features and functionality of both Control Nodes and Storage Nodes (see the following Node descriptions) and (Control/Storage) Nodes are combined in a single 2U HP ProLiant DL320s storage server. SAN Combo Nodes (DL380 G5 server) start at 2.5TB and accommodate up to 32 TB of SAN storage. SAS Combo Nodes provide either 2.4 or 3.6 TB of storage. SATA Combo Nodes provide either 2.0, 4.0, 6.0 or 8.0 TB of storage. Note that these SATA Combo Nodes are not the same that are included in the 6.0 TB bundle, as that is a unique (nonsku'd) Node. Encryption and compression are applied on the Storage Nodes. Gateway Node A building block to create an interface between MAS and imaging applications (for example, PACS) that presents MAS as a networkmounted drive (CIFS/NFS). It includes up to nearly 2 TB of fast file cache (GN2000CL Gateway Node sku only) for remote sites and consists of a DL320s storage server with SAS hard disks for the Linux OS and Gateway Node software. Parallel fetch, prioritised cache management and selective WORM are applied on the Gateway Node. Control Node A building block used to create a distributed database environment that provides object management, indexes and manages object metadata and manages storage policies, internal grid communications and authentication. It consists of a DL320s storage server and SAS drives for the Linux OS, Control Node software and a SQL Server database. GE Optimized Store is applied on the Control Node. Admin/Gateway Node A building block that provides some fast file cache centralised management, a web-based administrative interface, access security, collects real-time and historical data for alerts, reporting, troubleshooting and analysis. It consists of a DL320s storage server with SAS hard disks for the Linux OS and Admin Node software. The Admin Node is the single point of software installation for new deployments and upgrades. Optional LTUs The SAN LTU extends the original SAN Storage Node to incorporate additional SAN storage in 500 GB increments to provide up to 32 TB SAN storage per node. The DICOM LTU provides the ability to interface MAS with imaging applications through the DICOM protocol where it has been successfully tested. 7
