CCC Baccalaureate Degrees Considera-ons included geographic distribu-on of the pilot programs, diversity of pilot programs, ability of the district to establish a rigorous program in their proposed field and that the proposed program will meet an unaddressed local or statewide workforce need. 34 districts applied, 12 to offer degrees (15?)
CCC Baccalaureate Degrees The bachelor s degree programs receiving final approval are: Airframe manufacturing technology, Antelope Valley College Industrial automa-on, Bakersfield College Mortuary science, Cypress College Equine industry, Feather River College Dental hygiene (2), Foothill College and West Los Angeles College Bio- manufacturing, Mira Costa College Respiratory care (2), Modesto Junior College and Skyline College Health informa-on management, Mesa College Occupa-onal studies, Santa Ana College Health informa-on management, Shasta College
Dual Enrollment Under exis-ng law, high school pupils may be granted admission to CCC courses as special part- -me or full- -me students with the authoriza-on of the K- 12 district governing board, with the principal s permission and parental consent. Recent reports from the California Community College system reveal a 74 percent remedia-on rate with new, incoming freshman for English and Math. Data also shows that there is only a 43.6 percent chance that students needing remedial English will actually move on to college level English. For college level math that sta-s-c lowers considerably to 30.6 percent.
AB 288 (Holden 2015) Expand Access to concurrent enrollment programs for students by specifically authorizing college courses to be offered on a high school campus exclusively to high school students. Increase exposure to college coursework and environments for underserved students by specifically authorizing community college districts that have formed a Career Access Pathways partnership to grant limited priority enrollment to those students. Accelerate learning for students by crea-ng a framework that allows students who demonstrate competency to up to 15 units of community college coursework instead of 11 units
Common Assessment Ini-a-ve (CAI) The goal of the Common Assessment Ini-a-ve (CAI) is to develop a comprehensive, common assessment system (CAS) that will reduce unnecessary remedia-on, align to state legisla-on, and provide statewide efficiencies for the academic placement process within and between California colleges all of which will ul-mately benefit student success. 23 Mul-ple Measures pilot colleges (some as districts) pilo-ng new approaches to mul-ple measures incorpora-ng high school achievement data (grades, course- taking, CSTs, etc.) in Spring and Fall CAI pilot colleges pilo-ng the CAI test in Fall 2015 and may also pilot the mul-ple measures model in Spring and Fall 2015
Common Assessment Ini-a-ve (CAI) Plan is to have a tool available for use by colleges for the Fall 2016 assessment cycle, with system- wide rollout beginning in Spring Pilo-ng of both test content and sotware interface will take place in Fall 2015.
Educa-on Planning Ini-a-ve (EPI) Develops a student services portal that will customize and sequence matricula-on informa-on and ac-vi-es to lead students toward successful comple-on of their goals And an Educa-on Planning and Degree Audit System to provide transcript, ar-cula-on, and curriculum inventory elements to colleges and help college counselors reach more students.
