3 Daniel Abbott focuses on governmental and commercial litigation. He is an experienced trial attorney with extensive experience in the areas of land use/zoning, employment discrimination, civil rights, constitution law, police liability, and products liability, in both State and Federal courts. Dan is also a seasoned appellate attorney, having appeared before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Florida District Court of Appeals and the Florida Supreme Court. Dan also has extensive experience in governmental law, having served as City Attorney for the City of Hollywood for 8 years. He has also served as the Town Attorney for the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and as City Attorney for the City of North Bay Village. Prior to joining us, Dan was the City Attorney of the City of Hollywood from , where he previously served as its Chief Litigation Counsel from Daniel Aronowitz is an owner and the lead executive of Euclid Specialty Managers, a professional liability underwriting company. Euclid Specialty is best known for its market leading fiduciary liability insurance program for multiemployer, governmental and nonprofit employee benefit plans. Prior to starting Euclid Specialty, he was the president of a national insurance company, and a professional liability insurance lawyer as a partner at the national law firm Shaw Pittman. Dan is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Vanderbilt University School of Law, and has achieved the designation of RPLU+ from Professional Liability Underwriting Society. He authored the fiduciary liability insurance chapter of the Trustee Handbook published by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and is a frequently requested speaker on fiduciary liability and other insurance topics. He is very active in his church and local community, serving as the race director of the annual Spend Yourself 5k in Falls Church, Virginia, which raises money for hunger alleviation ministries. He is an avid long-distance runner, having participated in two recent Boston Marathons, and is currently learning to play the piano. He lives in Vienna, Virginia with his wife and two young children. Sonia Bridges is proud to be one of the few natives of Miami. She attended Miami- Dade Community College and Nova Southeastern University where she received her Associates Degree and Bachelor s Degree. She spent most of her career with Miami- Dade County in the Risk Management Department, until 1988 when she was promoted to the Chief of Aviation Risk Management of Miami International and its Auxiliary Airports. After almost 25 years with Miami-Dade County, Sonia was hired as the Risk Manager of City of Miami Beach in December Sonia attributes her success and achievements in the Risk Management field to those PRIMA members who continuously share their knowledge and experiences to young Risk Management professionals. She is very active in her local PRIMA Chapter, currently serving as a Board Member. Sonia has three boys, and four gorgeous grandchildren. Carmelo Colon is a 24 year veteran of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. During his 24 years of service, he has worked on the F.L.P.D. S.W.A.T. team as an Entry Operator, Defensive Tactics instructor, and Close Quarter Tactics instructor for the team for eight years. He is a FDLE certified Defensive Tactics Instructor and is also a PPCT Basic, and G.A.G.E. certified Defensive Tactics Instructor. He is a Broward County Police Academy adjunct instructor at the Broward College, Public Safety Institute. Carmelo is also a FDLE certified Firearms Instructor and has also attended the Multi- Weapons Instructor School at FLETC which certified him a federal firearms instructor.

4 Detective Colon is a Taser Master Instructor and a Karbon M.P.I.D. Master Instructor. He is also the department s lead Use of Force instructor, Chemical Weapons and FN 303 Less Lethal Launcher Instructor. He is a graduate of the Force Science Research Center as a Force Analyst. Carmelo has studied martial arts for over 35 years and is ranked in various disciplines. Prior to his Law Enforcement career, he was a sergeant in the United States Army for 10 years serving as a tank commander and Army recruiter. Currently Detective Colon is assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit. As part of his duties he teaches Response to an Active Shooter and Violence in the Work place courses to civilian groups and school staff in the local area. Matt Engels has with 18 years of managed care experience and extensive knowledge of workers compensation on a national level, Matt is Vice President of Network Solutions at CorVel Corporation. Matt oversees CorVel s networks, bill review, and case management and leads a team focused on the delivery of high quality, cost effective care and risk management. Through the use of data, clinical resources, and rules-based software, Matt and team identify trigger points to strategic interventions, driving optimal outcomes and reducing the risk associated with workplace injuries. Devising better ways to deliver and manage modalities applied to address pain, especially prescription medications and physical therapy, have been Matt s passion throughout his career. Matt capitalizes on CorVel s integrated platform of bill review, PPO, U/R, PBM, and TPA, positioning CorVel to meet the needs of employer and payer clients and health care provider partners. After graduation from Columbia University with a BA in History, Matt earned his law degree from Loyola University Chicago. After working as a health care consultant, Matt started his career in managed care in Matt lives in north suburban Chicago with his wife and two young children. Guy Hine is the Risk Manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale, with responsibilities that include the P&C lines of insurance along with employee health benefits. He also serves as a Board member of the South Florida PRIMA Chapter. His background is in claims management where he was previously employed by Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. and Nationwide Insurance for almost 20 years. Mr. Hine has obtained numerous insurance designations, including, Associate in Risk Management, Risk Management for Public Entities, Associate in Claims, and has his Board Certification in Workers Compensation. He is originally from Pennsylvania and received his undergraduate degree in Public Policy from the Pennsylvania State University. Joe Piechura is a graduate of Lewis University, Romeoville, IL, where he majored in Accounting and had a minor in Economics. He has been in the Insurance Industry since Joe spent 6 years working with Continental Insurance Company and 13 years in agency management where he was a General Manager of two large agencies. For the last 10 years Joe has been involved in insurance sales, which is the role that he fulfills at Gateway Insurance Agency. Joe has been very active in the Insurance Industry and served 10 years as a Director and two years as the President of the Independent Agents of Broward County as well as serving on various FAIA committees. Joe has served as a committee member for 7 years and 3 years as the Chairman of the City of Fort Lauderdale s Insurance Committee. He has also been a board member of the YMCA and Chairman of the Floranada School Advisory Board. Additionally, Joe is a member of the Construction Association of South Florida.

5 Michael Ross Piper is a founding member of the Fort Lauderdale law firm of Johnson, Anselmo, Murdoch, Burke, Piper & Hochman. Mr. Piper came to Florida over 30 years ago via his native New Hampshire, receiving both his undergraduate degree in Political Science and his law degree from the University of Florida. Since his 1987 admission to The Florida Bar, Mr. Piper has focused his practice on the representation of local governments and law enforcement agencies and their elected officials, professional administrators, and employees. He has defended innumerable claims involving police misconduct, civil rights violations, employment discrimination, EEOC and Florida Civil Rights Act charges, federal and state RICO allegations, law enforcement labor arbitrations, personal injury, and wrongful death. Mr. Piper has extensive trial and appellate experience in the state and federal courts at all levels. He has conducted jury trials in the state circuit courts from Martin County south to Key West, and in the federal courts in both the southern and middle districts of Florida. He has argued cases before Florida s First, Third, and Fourth District Courts of Appeal and before the federal Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and he has briefed issues in both the Florida and the United States Supreme Courts. Mr. Piper is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar and he is an AV-rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a member of the Trial Bars of the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and he is admitted to practice before both the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Joseph Priselac, Jr. is a graduate of Michigan State University; Joe founded P&A in 1975 and has over thirty years of experience in the insurance and employee benefits field. He has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations. Joe has lectured extensively across the Country on tax-advantaged accounts and their integration into employee benefit programs. Joe utilizes his extensive experience working with governmental employers to design and communicate a benefits program customized to the needs of each P&A client. Steve Smith is the Founder of Guardian Defense. The first program created under Guardian Defense is the A.C.T. (Assess, Challenge, and Train) School Program. The ACT School Program offers educational services and a hands-on experience to staff and teachers in order to build confidence and save time in the event of an intruder, active killer, or other terror attack. Each staff member learns how to develop an individualized plan for their classroom or workspace. Mr. Smith authored and developed the program in response to studying various school tragedies such as the Beslan school hostage crisis in Beslan, North Ossetia-Alaina, Russia and most recently, the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. Mr. Smith is also a full-time law enforcement officer with the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department. Since being hired in 2007, he has quickly proven himself within the department, holding a range of positions and responsibilities. After a year of working in the patrol division, Mr. Smith was quickly selected to become a Detective for the Street Crimes Unit within the Special Investigations Division. During that time, he was responsible for working with team members in order to reduce Part I crimes by conducting investigations, performing surveillance tasks, and conducting undercover operations. During his time in this position, Mr. Smith learned to network with community members in order to address specific problems in a variety of neighborhoods. Mr. Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a concentration in Criminal Justice, in 2005, from Nova Southeastern University. During his senior year, he completed an internship with the Davie Police Department. He played four years of NCAA Baseball and received numerous awards including Most Valuable Player in 2001, Most Improved Player in 2003, and held the position of Captain for the years of He also completed two seasons as a Professional Baseball Player. He currently resides in Palm Beach County, Florida with his wife and two sons.
