5 GSK University of Washington Collaboration Screening of preclinical candidates against malaria Brief Background: BVGH met with researchers at the University of Washington (UW) to gain an understanding of research programs and partnership needs. A researcher expressed interest in working with a pharmaceutical partner who could characterize and provide insights into development of UW compounds. UW professor was introduced to scientists at GSK. GSK s Tres Cantos Open Lab will re profile University of Washington compounds (Calcium dependent protein kinase inhibitors) for the ability to block the transmission of malaria using their assay systems. Current Status: Agreement to allow sharing of confidential information and transfer of compounds is in place.
