1 Participating life insurance Wealth Achiever Estate Achiever Canada Life offers two participating life insurance products from which to choose: Wealth Achiever and Estate Achiever. Both combine the strength of Canada Life s participating account with a choice of features and benefits to meet your clients needs. MARKETING guide
2 Stability, accountability & strength Participating life insurance Participating life insurance combines permanent life insurance with a tax-advantaged investment component. It provides insurance protection for the insured s lifetime as long as premiums are paid when due and includes basic guaranteed death benefits and cash values. Benefits and riders can also be added to the basic policy. Participating life insurance from Canada Life can provide your clients: Policy cash value that grows on a tax-advantaged basis Cash value they can access during their lifetime Policyowner dividends that can be used to pay some or all of out-of-pocket premiums or to buy more life insurance Riders and benefits that can be added to the basic policy to customize coverage A death benefit payout not subject to income tax Strength in Canada Life Performance and strength go hand-in-hand over the long term. These factors are especially important when choosing a participating life insurance policy because the net cost of a participating life insurance policy depends on the long-term performance of the participating account. Tailored product solutions Canada Life offers two participating life insurance products; Wealth Achiever and Estate Achiever. Both contain key features of participating life insurance and have been designed to suit different client goals. Estate Achiever and Wealth Achiever provide: Core guarantees for basic premium, basic death benefit and basic cash surrender value Two premium-paying options available on both products: max 20 and pay to age 100 A choice between higher short-term or long-term cash value Target markets Wealth Achiever may be suitable for individuals who: Are interested in using the cash value in the early years of the policy Require flexibility to meet changing cash flows from their business Are near retirement and want cash values they can access in their lifetime Estate Achiever may be suitable for individuals who are interested in: Long-term cash value growth Estate planning and enhancing estate values Accessing long-term cash value for retirement income participating life insurance the canada life assurance company
3 Features Wealth Achiever and Estate Achiever contain basic guaranteed features with the flexibility to grow cash value and death benefit on a tax-advantaged basis. Multiple guarantees Guaranteed premium for basic face amount Guaranteed death benefit Guaranteed cash surrender value A variety of dividend options Paid-up addition (PUA) Enhanced coverage option (ECO) Premium reduction Cash accumulation Cash payment Choice of premium-paying periods Wealth Achiever and Estate Achiever offer two premium-paying options to suit clients needs. 1. Max 20 Level basic premiums payable for a guaranteed maximum duration of 20 years 2. Pay to age 100 Level basic premiums payable to a maximum of age 100 Policies may be eligible for premium offset prior to the end of the premium-paying period depending on dividends declared, whether policy loans have been taken and other factors. Refer to the premium offset section in the Participating life insurance advisor guide (form 560) for more details. Coverage types and issue ages Single Joint first-to-die Joint last-to-die premiums payable by the policyowner to first death premiums payable by the policyowner to last death Flexible cash value component Guaranteed cash value For Wealth Achiever, the guaranteed cash value is available starting in year one For Estate Achiever, the guaranteed cash value is available by the seventh policy year Additional deposit option (ADO) Enhances policy values by allowing additional premium payments that purchase paid-up life insurance over and above the PUAs purchased by policy dividends. Dividend option on the policy must be PUA or ECO to add ADO to a policy Available on both standard and substandard policies and may increase the amount of underwriting required before a policy is issued There are two versions of the ADO: 1. Scheduled involves a regular premium payment (monthly or annual) to purchase additional paid-up life insurance. 2. Single premium involves a one-time purchase of additional paid-up life insurance. Issue ages Scheduled ADO Pay to age 100: 0-85 Max 20: 0-80 Issue ages Single premium ADO Pay to age 100: 0-85 Max 20: 0-80 Issue amounts: Minimum ADO premium: Single premium: $1,000 Scheduled: $1,000 (annual premium mode) Scheduled: $90 for the monthly premium mode (the premium mode for ADO must match the base policy) Start and stop of additional deposit option premiums During the deposit period illustrated, deposits can stop and start again without underwriting up to and including missing two consecutive annual payments or 24 monthly (Auto-pay) deposits. 4 Riders and benefits There are many benefits and riders that can be added to the base Wealth Achiever or Estate Achiever life insurance policy. These include: Simply Preferred term life insurance 10 and 20-year riders Child s life insurance rider Guaranteed insurability rider Accidental death benefit (ADB) Disability waiver of premium Death or disability waiver of premium Participating life insurance combines permanent life insurance with a tax-advantaged investment component. Wealth Achiever and Estate Achiever contain key features of participating life insurance. Each product is designed to suit different client goals.
