3 OUR HISTORY For over 65 years we have been building relationships with customers and partners who have come to recognize us as a leader in our industry for our creativity, innovation, and ability to provide solutions to complex problems. Founded in 1948 in St. Paul, Minn. by Charles Harris, Harris Plumbing & Heating has grown from its humble beginnings to what it is today a respected mechanical contractor that provides the best possible service to its customers throughout the United States. In I968 Robert Hosch, a journeyman and pipefitter, joined the company in the estimating department. In 1983 Harris Mechanical Contracting incorporated, and Hosch became president. In 2007 the company changed its name to Harris Companies, and Hosch s son Greg, who started with the company as a project engineer in 1989, was named CEO in We believe an employee-owned organization that shares its ownership beyond just a few individuals is more focused on long-term customer satisfaction. DESIGN/BUILD DESIGN/ASSIST Whether it s a Design/Assist or Design/Build project, Harris brings a significant amount of knowledge to any project, particularly with large complex projects requiring an extensive preconstruction effort. Harris participates in design meetings to establish a desired scope of the project, identifies the customer s requirements, and takes an active role in ensuring the original budget is maintained. Multiple estimates are performed at various stages of the design and for isolated systems or areas so that specific items can be reviewed in lieu of waiting for completion of the entire project budget. Harris will also take a lead role in finishing the design as required to meet the schedule, budget, and job-specific problems as they arise. PLAN & SPEC For projects with a well-defined scope, Harris can calculate a lump sum bid from construction and bid documents provided by the client s design team. BIM Harris Companies has a firm commitment to integrating the latest Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in our project delivery.
