The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) seeks motivated individuals with a passion for caring for critically ill children and their families. The PICU nurse will become an expert at providing care to a wide variety of patient conditions from infancy to adolescence. Diagnoses include, but are not limited to, complex medical conditions (respiratory failure, sepsis, and multisystem organ dysfunction), pre and post operative conditions, multiple trauma including neurologic compromise, as well as children needing acute management of chronic illnesses. The pediatric transport program is seeking ambitious, independent pediatric critical care nurses for the role of pediatric transport nurse. The program provides interfacility transport of critically ill children from outlying hospitals in the Upstate NY region to Golisano Children s Hospital at Strong. In addition, the transport nurse is an essential resource for the entire pediatric service by providing advanced intravenous access, phlebotomy, urgent and emergent response programs, and support for pediatric trauma patients, throughout the Children s Hospital. The transport program offers ongoing continuing education, opportunities for advancement, certification and educational outreach.
