3 Welcome to Standard Life Wealth We want you to deliver an outstanding level of service to your clients. So, to give you more time to spend on your clients financial planning and reduce your exposure to regulatory risk, we can take on the investment management responsibilities. Unlike most other investment specialists, we give you access to two distinct styles of investing, all under one roof, meaning we can build individual portfolios for each of your clients goals. We combine two distinct methods of investing. Our traditional approach aims to outperform the market or an agreed benchmark in the long term. And, our target return, volatility managed approach aims to give a defined return, regardless of market conditions. Our broad range of investment solutions gives you and your clients extensive choice and flexibility. What makes Standard Life Wealth different? 6 How we aim to meet your clients financial goals We know that for each individual ambition or goal your client may have in life, there is a style of investing that is right for them. So that we can tailor the right investment solution for them, it s crucial we understand their financial circumstances, goals, time horizon and attitude to risk. They may have a different time horizon for each goal, and may be willing to take on more risk with one goal than with another. Standard Life Wealth can provide appropriate investment solutions across many potentially different goals, e.g. capital growth, investing for future generations, retirement and inheritance. They may have successfully sold their business and find that they have financial freedom Different goals may mean different investment solutions For clients with assets of over 100,000, we provide the Standard Life Wealth Managed Portfolio Service (MPS). You can find information on MPS on Adviserzone For clients with assets of over 500,000 or more, we offer a discretionary management service Financial goals can generally be divided into three categories: aiming to grow or preserve your wealth aiming to deliver a regular income elements of both of the above They might be thinking about providing for their children s/grandchildren s future school and university fees They could be approaching/in retirement and need to sustain a comfortable level of income They may plan to leave enough money for their family in the event of their death 04 Wealth management
7 Preserving a client s wealth A client wants to maintain the value of their existing wealth over other options such as growth. Standard Life Wealth s highly diversified, volatility managed, target return portfolios may be suitable if they are concerned about short term fluctuations in the value of their portfolio. Growing a client s portfolio A client wants to see the value of their wealth increase over the longer term and recognises that this means accepting some level of risk in order to achieve this goal. Standard Life Wealth offers a range of investment options for them to consider, from target return, volatility managed portfolios to more traditional investments in equities, bonds and property. Clients investing for income A client s aim is to receive a regular income. There are a number of ways for them to achieve this depending on their circumstances. One approach is to opt for regular (income) payments generated from interest and dividends received in their portfolio. If they need a higher, or specific, level of regular income, and their investment portfolio is sufficient for their needs, an alternative approach may be to invest in a low volatility, target return portfolio and set up regular payments from capital. A client who wants to draw a regular income from a portfolio, or decumulate Clients are able to generate a predictable income by drawing regular amounts from their current wealth. 9 What your clients can expect We aim to make investing as simple and straightforward as possible for your clients. If your client prefers to contact us directly, they ll have a dedicated Client Portfolio Manager, responsible for looking after their portfolio Or, we can work closely with both you and your client Reporting We ll send your clients regular, personalised quarterly reports, which detail their current portfolio valuations, cash and transaction statements, as well as investment performance and investment commentary. Review meetings Your client s personal Client Portfolio Manager will be available for regular face-to-face review meetings with you and your client. Tax packs We ll prepare and include details of investments to support your client s tax return. Other providers We ll happily deal with all of the major Self Investment Personal Pension (SIPP) and Offshore Bond providers, and provide ISA options through Standard Life Savings at no extra cost.
