Duration: min Organization: group work Material: worksheets, photos brought by students, construction paper, a photo Preparation: at the previous class ask students to bring a photo on a theme you choose with them for this class; bring the worksheets. Learn more about World Photography Day World Photo Day, to be held on August 19 th marks a special anniversary for photographers across the globe. It marks the 175t h anniversary of the first permanent photographic process patented and freely released to the world on August 19 th, Founded in 2009, World Photo Day website hosted its first global, online gallery in 2010 with the goal to unite local and global communities in a worldwide celebration of photography. Since its initial launch, The World Photo Day project has grown from an idea into a global event as photographers around the globe have joined the celebration. Procedure: Show students any photo you bring from home or get at school. Available at: < Accessed on: July 7 th, 2014 Ask them if they know what it is about, where, who s in the photo and what kind of photo it is. Provide some information about the World Photo Day and explain how it is celebrated in the world. Hand them the worksheets and ask students to look at the chart with cameras and photos. Ask them to relate the dates: 1880, 1930, 1980, Compare the differences of the cameras and the photos. Group students into four students and ask them to match the photos to the words. Ask students to unscramble the words and then tell them to find the words in the Word Search. The two groups who finish first are the winners. Hand the groups the Kraft paper. Ask students to glue the pictures they brought from home and write titles for each one. Then make a poster to celebrate World Photo Day. Tell students they will vote for the best poster. Count the votes and check who won. Photocopiable Teacher s copy
