3 Why Teach With Paradox? John 12:25- "Those who love their lives will lose them, but those who hate their lives in this world will keep true life forever." Step 1: What Do You See? 1. What Christian principle can be found in each paradox? 2. What worldly value is in competition with that principle? Matthew 10:39 - If your first concern is to look after yourself, you ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you ll find both yourself and me. Matthew 20:16 - Here it is again, the Great Reversal: many of the first ending up last, and the last first. Luke 14:33 - In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. John 9:41 - Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, We see, your sin remains. Acts 20:35 - It is more blessed to give than to receive. LESSON 1 Romans 13:1 - All of you must yield to the government rulers. No one rules unless God has given him the power to rule, and no one rules now without that power from God. Matthew 10:39 - Those who try to hold on to their lives will give up true life. Those who give up their lives for me will hold on to true life. Matthew 18:4 - The greatest person in the kingdom of heaven is the one who makes himself humble like this child. James 2:5 - Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor in the world to be rich with faith and to receive the kingdom God promised to those who love him. Mark 9:35 - Jesus sat down and called the twelve apostles to him.
