EMC plug-ins for VMware: Provide storage visibility with VMware ESX and VM mapping Provision storage within vcenter across all available protocols Support array-based, VM-consistent snapshots Integrate with VMware View for provisioning and deploying Compress/decompress VMDKs in real time to maximize storage efficiency Are provided at no additional cost to EMC customers With EMC s second-generation VMware vcenter Plug-in family (Virtual Storage Integrator, EMC CLARiiON vcenter Plug-in, and EMC Celerra vcenter Plug-in), VMware administrators can now simplify visibility, provisioning, and management of EMC storage through the VMware lens. With EMC Plug-ins for vcenter you get more VMware integration and unique capabilities than from any other storage vendor. Other EMC integration points with VMware include VMwareaware EMC Navisphere, EMC Unisphere, EMC RecoverPoint, and EMC Replication Manager; VMware vstorage API for Array Integration (VAAI) support on EMC unified and EMC Symmetrix VMAX platforms; vstorage API for multi-pathing support in EMC PowerPath /VE; vstorage API for Site Recovery Manager support across all products; and vstorage API for Data Protection, VMware vsphere Changed Block Tracking, and vcenter integration in EMC Avamar. EMC VIRTUAL STORAGE INTEGRATOR Formerly known as the Storage Viewer, the EMC Virtual Storage Integrator Plug-in introduces the following functionality within the vsphere client: Discover and identify Celerra, CLARiiON, and Symmetrix arrays Present granular details of storage allocated to the virtual Infrastructure from each array Provision Symmetrix-hosted LDEVs to be used as VMFS datastores Download Plug-ins from EMC Powerlink at: S O L U T I O N O V E R V I E W

2 Plug-ins currently available Available plug-ins from EMC Celerra, CLARiiON, and EMC Symmetrix/VMAX enable VMFS datastores and provide deeper insight into how the storage is used. Currently available plug-ins include: Celerra: Provisioning, full/fast clones, compress/decompress, Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) CLARiiON: Storage provisioning, VMFS deployments, View deployments, VSI VMAX: Storage Provisioning, VMFS data store deployment, VSI Business continuity and disaster recovery: VMware Site Recovery Manager Failback: Celerra and RecoverPoint Data Center Insight: Configuration best practices, application dependency maps EMC SYMMETRIX VMAX With the introduction of the EMC Symmetrix/VMAX Plug-in, the following functionality is available through the vsphere client: Create pools of virtually provisioned storage and provide them to VMware teams to use while protecting other workloads from any impact and enable VMware teams to self-provision storage allocated to them Allocate storage to specific VMware Infrastructure Objects or share it across the entire cluster Extend and reconfigure VMFS and block storage Leverage EMC TimeFinder for mass data store-level replication of virtual machines and Licensing > Downloads T Z > Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) EMC CLARiiON With the introduction of EMC CLARiiON vcenter Plug-in, the following functionality is available through the vsphere client: Provision VMFS data stores automatically, including all underlying CLARiiON functions on ESX hosts or automatically across vsphere clusters Extend and reconfigure both VMFS data stores and back-end storage Leverage EMC SnapView for mass data store-level replication of virtual machines

3 EMC CELERRA With the introduction of EMC Celerra vcenter Plug-in, the following functionality is available through the vsphere client: Provision vcenter data stores automatically including all underlying Celerra functions on VMware ESX hosts or automatically across vsphere clusters Extend and reconfigure vcenter data stores and underlying Celerra file systems Quickly and efficiently create snapshots and clones of virtual machines (VMs) and data stores Leverage the Celerra system s unique capability for production vcenter data store-level and VM-level realtime compression and decompression Mass replication of individual VMs

4 BUSINESS CONTINUITY AND DISASTER RECOVERY VMware vcenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) is the standard for disaster recovery planning and execution in a VMware virtual infrastructure. With features including non-disruptive testing, single-click disaster failover execution and end-to-end automation and control over the disaster recovery process Site Recovery Manager truly enables recovery management in the virtual data center. EMC was the first storage vendor to offer an integrated failback tool to manage the transition back to the primary site once the disaster was mitigated in a manner as simple as the failover process.
