3 THE FUTURE IS ELECTRIC The starting point for Eltorque was an idea of implementing permanent magnet motor technology into an electric actuator. We developed a groundbreaking concept more than 20 years ago, which was introduced to the maritime market. The goal was, and still is, to provide our customers with simplistic and maintenance free products. As we added new products into our portfolio, based on the same philosophy, Eltorque became one of the frontrunners in the market. We have established a very strong foothold in the maritime industry, and going forward we will continue our efforts to strengthen our position in onshore markets. In parallel with a strong focus on maritime industry, Eltorque will increase the attention on onshore markets. There is a large potential for our solutions, and we intend to explore these opportunities. This strategic expansion will require new products and a higher degree of innovation. The actuators are highly intelligent units with no need for maintenance, designed to last the lifetime of the vessel. The end-users are provided with a cost-effective solution securing carefree remote control of valves. Our goal will always be to provide our customers with reliable, cost effective and user friendly products for a wide range of applications. Eltorque places huge efforts into developing the products and solutions of the future, and lifecycle cost is one of the key elements. 5 HOW WILL THIS IMPACT INSTALLATION? Hybrid marine cabling Traditional cabling HYBRID CABLE CONNECTIVITY Serial connection of actuators is in itself an extremely cost effective and time saving solution. However, Eltorque has taken the next step in installation methodology by developing a Hybrid cable. Through combining Power and CANbus communication in one cable, time spent on installation has never been less. CHMS (i) 250V One of the major benefits to using Eltorque valve control is the possibility of serial connecting the actuators via CANbus interface. This allows for a very a precise remote control of valves, and at the same time provides real-time feedback to the user. Until now, separate Power and CANbus cables have been necessary components in the field bus. However, Eltorque has developed a DNV-GL Type approved cable that combines CANbus and 2.5 mm cross section power conductor into one simplistic and cost-effective product. The intention behind this product is to further simplify the Eltorque valve control solution, save money for the builder and provide the enduser with the most reliable and safe system possible. We believe to have reached our goal. 6 INTELLIGENT CONTROL The Eltorque solution offers an unsurpassed level of flexibility. Configure parameters like torque, closing speed and positioning quickly and precisely. At the same time, get detailed and real-time status feedback on all valves. These features set our solution apart from all conventional systems based on pneumatics or hydraulics, and the built-in intelligence of our actuators plays a key role. Digital Signal Processors are used along with encoders to exploit the full potential found in the permanent magnet motors and planetary gears. This combination makes our actuators perform with greater precision than the competition, as well as provide the user with more accurate feedback. Getting the specified alarms are also important in case of an emergency. Contrary to the general alarms you ll get with conventional valve control systems, the serial-connected solution by Eltorque provides the user with detailed alarms, e.g. relating to positioning, temperature, torque or communication.
