You ve just purchased what we believe to be the highest quality tube DI box and/or +30dB tube preamp available anywhere. You can use your DITTO box as a unity gain DI box for driving long signal runs, totally isolated, without any loss of audio performance or dynamic range, keeping the signal quiet and hum free. The DITTO box also adds clarity, punch and tube warmth to any or all high impedance instruments such as electric guitar, electro-acoustic guitar, electric bass guitar, electric keyboard and synthesizer. DITTO was designed for all studio or live recording applications and also for all live venue sound reinforcement requirements. As a DI box DITTO is unsurpassed in it s audio quality and will provide accurate unity gain with the added clarity, dimension and true dynamic response of tubes when compared to the common solid state DI boxes. But DITTO is much more than just a DI box. Ditto is, to our knowledge, the only two tube (it has two dual triodes) DI box with a custom wound output transformer that can deliver up to +30 db of make up gain! DITTO will produce all the tube preamp gain you will ever need for directly recording into your PC based recording system. FEATURES: There are two 1/4 parallel inputs, one for your instrument input, and the second passes on unaffected your instrument s output signal for loop output applications. Use this dual input feature to keep your stage set up as is while balancing and isolating your unbalanced high impedance signal for extremely long cables runs necessary for transmission to your recording and/or live venue mixer. Cable runs of 500 feet or more are possible with Ditto s powerful tube driver and output isolation transformer without any loss of signal strength or character. You can also use some or all makeup gain and there by reduce the need for gain at the mixer. Trading tube gain for solid state gain is DIRECT INPUT 12AX7 almost always desirable and will result in a better sounding performance. XLR balance low impedance output jack for long line transmission of the instrument signal. Pin 2 is hot as consistent with AES standard. You may "unbalance" this signal but hum and noise induction may result depending on the environment conditions. LOOP OUTPUT useful to float your signal in certain environments. This switch does not unbalance your XLR transmission line or add induction of hum or noise. Gain control allows you to set DITTO for 0 db, or unity gain, which means the signal strength coming into DITTO will be exactly the same as it leaves DITTO although it will now be a balanced, or fully differential, signal path. Rotating the Gain knob clockwise will add up to +30dB of all tube preamp gain and would be useful for all live and recording applications where warmth and dynamic realism is desired. DITTO s gain will have more clarity and punch than UNITY GAIN ADJ +30dB SIGNAL GROUND LIFT 12AU7 BALANCED TRANSFORMER OUTPUT BLOCK DIAGRAM OF DITTO BOX that which could be provided by your mixer s preamp or other solid state gain devices. It can provide enough for direct recording when connected to any -10dB or +4dB PC audio interface device. There is also a On/Off switch and external fuse holder provided on the opposite side from the audio input/output face panel.
