The National Resource Center serves to coordinate the work of the Capacity-building Provider Network (CPN), which is the CDC's flagship program to provide high quality capacity-building assistance (CBA) services for health departments, community-based organizations, and healthcare organizations in the delivery of high-impact HIV prevention strategies. 3. Evaluator & Implementation Specialist. Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center Region 7 (Stilen, PI). The Mid-America ATTC serves HHS Region 7 (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska) by developing and conducting training and technology transfer activities to meet the identified needs of the addiction treatment services workforce. 4. Evaluator. Bridging the Disparities Gap: Strengthening Community-based Healthcare Delivery in an Urban Setting (Kimble, PI). Health Resources and Services Administration. 9/12 to 6/15, $1,467,979. This project will create Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP) teams of nurse practitioners, other health professionals, and students at two safety-net clinics that provide health care to underserved populations in Kansas City, MO.

The Coordinating Center will assist the JJ-TRIALS Collaborative of six research/-based juvenile justice systems to effectively implement evidence-based HIV and substance use prevention and treatment practices. 6. Project Coordinator/Site PI. Substance Abuse Treatment to HIV care (SAT2HIV) (Garner, PI). National Institute on Drug Abuse. 7/14 to 6/19 ($123,308 contract). This Type 2 Effectiveness-Implementation Hybrid Trial will test the effectiveness of a motivational interviewing-based brief intervention for substance use within communitybased HIV/AIDS service organizations, relative to usual care. 7. Evaluator. Improving Fragmentation in Healthcare: Employing Interprofessional Education for Managing Multiple Chronic Conditions in an Urban Setting (Brommelsiek, PI). Health Resources and Services Administration. 07/01/13 to 06/30/16, $632,138. This project will expand and enhance the advanced nursing curriculum by improving interpersonal communication and ethical decision making in caring for medically underserved persons with multiple chronic conditions (MCC). The Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center served Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska by developing and conducting training and technology transfer activities to meet the identified needs of the addiction treatment services workforce. 2. Implementation Specialist and Steering Committee Member. Health Literacy Initiative. Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. 10/12 to 12/14, $10,000. This grant initiative is providing support to Kansas City area safety net clinics to adopt and implement evidence-based or promising health literacy practices to improve health knowledge and behaviors of patients. 3. Evaluator. Community Reinforcement Approach [CRA] Program (Stidham, PI). Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City to Johnson County Mental Health Center. 09/12 to 9/13, $300,000 total ($14,000 contract). This project evaluates two evidence-based practices, community reinforcement approach and assertive continuing care, for adolescent and adult substance users and includes a longitudinal client outcome study. 4. Evaluator. Addiction Training for Nurses Using SBIRT (ATN-SBIRT). Health Resources and Services Administration to University of Pittsburgh-School of Nursing. 11/10 to 11/12 ($31,200 contract). This project will develop and provide training on substance use screening, brief intervention, and referral for treatment (SBIRT) for nursing students at the University of Pittsburgh-School of Nursing. 6. Consultant. Co-Occurring Disorder Learning Community. National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare to Hazelden. 12/11 to 3/13. Provide instruction via webinar sessions on evidence-based practices for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. 7. Dissemination Consultant. Training Residents Across Disciplines in SBIRT Services (Vinson, PI). Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to University of Missouri-Columbia. 10/09 to 9/12. ($75,077 contract). This project developed and provided training on substance use screening, brief intervention, and referral for treatment (SBIRT) for residents, medical students, and other health professionals. 8. Consultant. National Evaluation of Adolescent Assertive Family Treatment. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to Advocates for Human Potential. 10/09 to 9/12. This is a cross-site evaluation of 13 grants to implement adolescent community reinforcement approach and assertive continuing care for adolescent substance users. 9. Conference Chair. Joint Meeting on Adolescent Treatment Effectiveness. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 6/11 to 6/12. ($18,015 contract). Serve as Chair of the 2012 JMATE conference, April 10-12, 2012, including organizing and directing planning for the scientific meeting portion of the conference; organizing and directing program, sponsor, award, and review committees; seeking funding through public and private sponsors; and coordinating young adult and family member input into conference. 10. Consultant. Development of Dual Diagnosis Capability in Addiction Treatment (DDCAT) and Dual Diagnosis Capability in Mental Health Treatment (DDCMHT) Indexes Toolkits. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to Westat. 1/11 to 9/11. This project will develop administration and implementation toolkits for the DDCAT and DDCMHT indexes that measure treatment fidelity.

Missouri Foundation for Health to Missouri Institute of Mental Health. 5/07 to 5/11, $933,856 total. This is a cross-site evaluation of 24 grants to local treatment providers who are implementing evidence-based practices for treating consumers with co-occurring substance related and mental disorders. I was the Principal Investigator while at UMC ( ) and then Co-Investigator when I moved to UMKC ( ). 12. Implementation Consultant. Integrated Co-Occurring Condition Treatment Services (Odiam, PI). Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City to Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc. 7/08 to 6/10. ($31,150 contract). This project assisted Tri-County Mental Health Services to implement evidence-based practices for consumers with co-occurring substance related and mental disorders in their mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, including conducting fidelity reviews. 13. Implementation and Data Consultant. Arkansas Advancing Recovery Partnership (Ferguson, PI). Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. 2/08 to 1/10, $360,000 total ($34,196 contract). This collaborative project with NIATx, was led by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Office of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention, who with four state-funded substance abuse treatment agencies to implement the evidence-based practices of continuing care and case management. 14. Evaluation Director. COSIG: Missouri - State Incentive Grant for Treatment of Persons with Co-occurring Substance Related and Mental Disorders (Homer, PI). Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 10/03 to 9/09, $3,347,873 total ($3,963 contract 10/08-9/09). This project enhanced state infrastructure and assisted providers in implementing evidence-based practices for consumers with co-occurring substance related and mental disorders, and included a fidelity study and a longitudinal client outcome study. I was the Evaluation Director while at MIMH and transferred to Co-Director when I moved to Mid-America ATTC. 15. Senior Manager of Evaluation. Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center Supplement with Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board (Stilen, PI). Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 10/08 to 9/09, $100,000. The Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center partnered with the Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board to revise a basic substance abuse treatment curriculum for use with healthcare workers providing services to Native American clients. 16. Co-Investigator. Comparing Two Multimedia Science of Addiction Courses (Epstein, PI). National Institute on Drug Abuse. 7/03 to 06/07, $1,053,000.

This project evaluated efforts to improve outcomes for young children and their families through improving access to integrated behavioral health services. 20. Evaluator.
