1 At Pace s School of Education you ll start fieldwork a whole year earlier than at most colleges.

2 The more time you spend teaching before you graduate, the better prepared you ll be for that great job when you leave Pace. Pace students begin their fieldwork and student-teaching experiences the first semester of sophomore year one year earlier than most schools. Our faculty include many well-known leaders in their fields. Yet no matter how many papers they ve published or awards they ve won, their focus remains on their true passion: teaching. Our curricula are designed to help develop strong critical thinkers and problem solvers. That means we use real examples from classrooms to promote real-world learning. Success stories start here: n The school s rigorous curriculum, which is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), is designed to meet New York State s high standards for teachers. Last year, 98% of Pace graduates passed the New York State Certification exams. n Pace s close partnerships with areas schools means that we are often one of their first contacts when they have job openings giving you an edge in New York s burgeoning job market. Last year, New York City hired 4,000 new teachers. n A Pace degree can take you wherever you want to go. Whether you want to teach in downtown Manhattan or outback Montana, with New York State certification, you ll be eligible to be certified in 48 of the 50 states. {The Pace Advantage: Superior professional education Two strategic New York locations Robust scholarships and financial aid

3 Alumni Snapshot Natalia Cruz-Santiago 07 Teacher, Brookside School and 2006 winner of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowship for Aspiring Teachers of Color When I was in school, I didn t see as many teachers who reflected the diversity of the student body. So it was important that I become a teacher. I still want to change the world. A leader in bringing the technology of today into the classroom. As the only university in the Northeast using TeachLivE technology, a mixed-reality teaching environment that uses avatars to support teacher practice, our students gain confidence and skills before they even enter the classroom. Pace is also one of the few schools in the region that offers advanced degrees and certificates in educational technology, so you can use technology to empower your students and yourself. Unique technology programming, plus curricula that integrates the arts and sciences, community partnerships, school-based field experience, and research-based courses, ensure you ll be ready to help shape the students and leaders of the future. Pace creates educators who help change the world by making a difference in their communities, in their schools, and the lives of their students. {Hatsue Masuyama 14, Childhood Education and English} always knew teaching was her calling. I was inspired to pursue teaching as a result of my work as a summer camp counselor and my experiences using therapeutic horseback riding when working with people with disabilities, she says. Teaching is a way I can live my life fulfilled by living for the sake of others. Hatsue s Pace education provides a solid foundation. Pace allows education majors to have fieldwork experience earlier than many other universities, and it is also one of a few schools that uses the Avatar TeachLivE Lab where education majors can practice their classroom skills in a realistic simulation. 100,000 The number of additional STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) teachers needed over the next 10 years, according to the White House Becoming a great teacher starts with having a great education.
