2 About Us Delaware Technical Community College offers comprehensive educational opportunities including career, general, developmental and transfer education, lifelong learning, and workforce training. Through the division of Workforce Development and Community Education, a variety of pre-college activities are offered. College staff provide mentoring, education, enrichment and motivation to Delaware s youth. Exceptional programs are developed and delivered to empower and guide youth as they reach personal goals and achieve academic and professional success. In-school, after-school and summer programs are offered at both the Stanton and George Campuses. The Camp Programs represent one of the fastest growing initiatives at the Stanton and George Campuses. Our signature program, Camp-On-Campus, allows children to explore a variety of enrichment activities throughout the summer while experiencing the college environment. Each program has been designed to be educational and entertaining and is staffed by experienced educators and camp counselors. STEM Camps provide activities to reinforce competencies required by the state educational standards. Specialty Camps enable students to explore new areas of interest. Career and Sports Camps, developed in conjunction with college faculty and members of the business community, provide students with relevant, ageappropriate career awareness experiences. The size of each camp is limited and openings are filled on a firstcome, first-served basis. Check out all that Delaware Tech has to offer and register early! For information, call Sign In / Sign Out: We will be using a PIN Based Computer sign in/out system. All individuals authorized to drop off and/or pick up your child must have their OWN PIN! Make sure you list them on your registration! ID WILL BE CHECKED before a camper is released! All campers must be escorted by parents or guardians into the main lobby and signed in between 8:45 am and 9 am, if you re not signed up for extended care. Late arrivals (anyone after 9 am) should check in at the Workforce Development and Community Education office. Any camper arriving before 8:45 am and/or not picked up by 4 pm will be assigned to our extended care program for the week and a fee of $35 per child will be due at the time of drop-off and/or pick-up. Extended Care: Delaware Tech s Extended Care Program includes games, competitions, afternoon movie matinées and much more! Campers at the Stanton Campus also enjoy activities in our college-sized gymnasium such as volleyball, basketball and popular group games. Extended hours start at 7:30 am and end at 6 pm and cost $35/week. FAQs Will my child go on a field trip? All campers enrolled in full day camps participate in several field trips. What if I need to pick up my child early from camp? If your child has to leave early, please let staff know at drop-off and please be aware of the trip schedule. Due to safety issues, we cannot arrange pick-ups or drop-offs while a camper is on a field trip. When should I register for camp? Registration begins February 6, with final payment required by 4 pm, 10 days (Friday) before each week s camp start date. Registration is not available without a non-refundable deposit. Do I need to make a deposit to register? Yes, a non-refundable deposit of $25 per child, per week is due with your application. Pre-registration is required. The $25 is applied to your balance. Does the camp program offer extended care? Yes, the extended care program begins at 7:30 am and ends at 6 pm. The fee is $35/week and is due at registration. There is a $1/ minute late charge for every minute past your camp end time. Will my child be able to bring his/her own equipment? The camp will provide all the equipment children will need unless specified. Please do not bring personal equipment, electronic devices or cell phones to camp as it is a distration to other campers and the instructors. Delaware Tech and its staff will not be responsible for any lost or damaged devices. Does my child need to bring a lunch? Your child may bring a brown bag lunch. No refrigeration is offered. He or she may also purchase food in the College café. The café does offer prepaid plans throughout the summer. Please see café staff for more information. How should my child dress for camp? Children should come dressed to participate in athletic and artistic activities. Wear sneakers not flip-flops or any other open-toed shoes. Who works on the camp staff? Our staff is comprised of college administrative staff, teachers, counselors and college students from the local area. What is the counselor/camper ratio? We follow state guidelines for counselor/camper ratio. Therefore, 8 to 17 year-olds will have a 1:10 ratio, 6 to 7 year-olds will have a 1:9 ratio, and 3 to 5 year-olds will have a 1:6 ratio. What if the camp I want is full? Your name will be placed on our waiting list. You will be notified no later than the Wednesday before the camp begins if a spot becomes available. 3

5 Camp-On-Campus Ages 6-12, $189/week Stanton and George Campuses Students ages 6-12 can join us at both campuses for indoor classroom activities, outdoor athletic games, local walking trips and weekly field trips. Plenty of on campus activities give your child a rewarding learning experience while guaranteeing a summer filled with excitement and fun. Camp-On-Campus is from 9 am - 4 pm. On Your Mark, Get Set, and Go! - NEW Summer Preschool Camp Ages 3-5, $129/week Stanton Campus Camper must be potty trained. This program will give your preschoolers a running start to school. Expect interactive hands-on activities, reading, writing, singing and more to prepare for their transition to a classroom setting. They will be introduced to letters, numbers, colors and shapes, cutting skills. Daily lessons will provide a fun and enriching environment to stimulate your child s yearning for learning. Please bring a light snack and water each day. Preschool Camp is Monday Friday: 9:30 am to Noon. Jr. Specialty Camps Ages 6-8, $189/week Stanton and George Campuses Specialty Camps are held from 9 am noon and then campers participate in Camp-On-Campus activities and field trips from noon 4 pm. Minion Camp Embark on a week-long adventure of exploration, mystery solving, engineering, construction and science experiments. This camp includes hands-on activities, games, planning and design, as well as execution. No Bake Cooking Camp Healthy snacks and delectable desserts all without baking! This camp will help teach our campers how to measure and mix up fun treats. 5

Cooking Camp Gain a culinary experience creating entrees and baking desserts. Learn to measure, estimate and read recipes. Campers learn basic recipes while covering different topics and meals. Cupcakes with Kids Camp It s cupcake time! Learn how to safely work your way around a kitchen and bake yummy cupcakes. Make delicious icings and colorful icings to create your unique cupcake design. Ages 9-12, $189/week Incredible Edible Art Camp Find out what the expression It looks good enough to eat means. Learn how to construct edible creations that you will gobble right up! Campers will leave with their own recipe and instructional book on how to create edible art. Minion Camp Embark on a week-long adventure of exploration, mystery solving, engineering, construction and science experiments. This camp includes hands-on activities, games, planning and design, as well as execution. No Bake Cooking Camp Healthy snacks and delectable desserts all without baking! Campers will have fun with this camp as they get their hands dirty testing theories and creating hypotheses for experiments. Coding for Kids - NEW Computer Science is currently one of the fastest growing industries. This program will introduce kids to the basics of computer coding. Through hands-on and computer activities students will learn IT terminology, build background, and begin to write lines of programming code! Computer Kids Using state of the art college computer labs, campers will participate in various computer related activities using kid-friendly websites and Microsoft Office applications. Practice keyboarding skills, develop a PowerPoint presentation, create digital art, and learn about internet safety. Campers must have an address prior to camp. Cyber Defenders - NEW Cyber Security professionals are more crucial now than ever before as cyber-attacks are now occurring at an everincreasing rate. Learn how hackers break into computer systems around the world while developing the skills required to protect yourself and others on the Internet. Minecraft Camp Campers use the ever popular Minecraft video game to build worlds, solve puzzles and create together. With specific goals and challenges each day, both individually and within a group, newcomers and experienced Minecrafters are invited to have fun and learn together. Cyber World - NEW Have you ever wondered how the Internet works? What happens when you connect to a website? 7 Sports Camps Stanton Campus Sports Camps are held 9 am noon and then campers participate in Camp-On-Campus activities and field trips from noon 4 pm. Our sports camps are not intended to be competitive advancement camps but rather basic skills and knowledge. Basketball Camp Available for ages 9 to 15 Develop foundational and intermediary basketball skills focusing on: dribbling, rebounding, shooting, passing and teamwork. Our Sports camps are not intended to be competitive advancement but rather focus on basic skills and knowledge of the game. Ages 9-12, $189/week Recess Rocks!- NEW Kids will be encouraged to work together as a team with laughter and fun while staying fit. Games such as Capture the Flag will help them get physical activity while working together. Play kick ball, four-square and other favorite playground games! Who doesn t enjoy good oldfashioned recess fun? Steppin and Stompin Dance Camp Learn new techniques in this dance camp. Students will have the opportunity to learn dance moves in hip hop, jazz, ballet and modern dance. Cheerleading Camp Learn the basics of cheerleading. Activities include dance, cheers, jumps, and making spirit posters. All activities will culminate with an end of the week performance. Flag Football - NEW Come out, learn and play this non-contact sport. Campers will learn strategy, basic plays and have fun! Working in teams will be addressed as a necessary skill. 7

Who will make and decorate the winning cupcake? Come learn new and exciting techniques to help create your masterpiece. Harry Potter Camp - NEW Ever wanted to experience the wonder of Hogwarts, the excitement of magic classes? This Week in the Wizarding World will provide all that with fun activities like House Sorting, Quiddich-like games, and more. This is a MUST for Harry Potter fans. The week will be an incredible chance to indulge his/her love for one of the most iconic series of this generation. While we can t promise that your child will become a DADA master or defeat the Dark Lord, we can guarantee that this Week in the Wizarding World will be one thing magical! CSI/Crime Scene Investigation Camp Learn the importance of securing a crime scene, searching for clues, and processing the evidence collected. Put your knowledge to work and solve the crime! Intro to Drones The unmanned model quadcopter (drone) aircraft revolution is here! Attend this Crash Camp to learn more about your preflight checklist. This camp will cover what you need to know for recreational use, such as proper operation, safety, rules and regulations. Ages 13-15, $189/week Renewable Energy NEW Campers will use hands-on activities to explore engineering and design concepts as they construct solar ovens to make s mores, build solar cars and wind turbines, and build and program LEGO Mindstorms NXT solar trackers and wind stations. YouTube Camp NEW Have you always wanted your own You Tube Channel? In this camp you will learn how to set up a channel, how to light it properly, create channel art, how to film and record audio, and more. Learn all the ins and outs of creating your own Channel. 8

9 New Specialty Camps Ages 6-12 AM - Morning 9 am to 12:30 pm, $159/week Bricks 4 Kidz Ages 6-12 (See specific weeks for appropriate age) Bricks 4 Kidz is a hands-on experience that teaches science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through working with the LEGO technic bricks, campers count, learn about gravity, torque, gears, ratios, friction asymmetry and much more. Chess Camp Ages 9-12 Learn to play chess or improve your game. Introductory to intermediate instruction is provided. Chess is a game that requires problem solving. Math requires problem solving. Chess requires thinking ahead, planning, being systematic and determining outcomes of certain moves. Come learn to play chess and improve your math skills while playing a game! PM - Afternoon 12:30 to 4 pm, $99/week For Bricks 4 Kidz and Chess Campers only Camp-On-Campus Ages 6-12 Students that attended a morning camp session can join us in the afternoon to make a full day of camp. Plenty of on and off campus activities give your child a rewarding learning experience while guaranteeing a summer filled with excitement and fun. The afternoon Camp- On-Campus will extend your Camper s day until 4 pm. Afternoon (pm) Camp-On-Campus includes bus trips. Ask us about the NEW coding courses for high school students. Call for more information. Career Exploration Institute 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Ages 14-17, $299/week Not sure what you might want to do after high school? Or what courses you should be taking? The Institute will expose Students to various high-growth and high demand jobs of the future. You will explore new careers and discover what path may be the best fit for you based on your personality and interests. Our Career Institute offers: Exposure to current and emerging career fields What you ll need to know for your chosen career Steps you can take now, while in high school, to prepare you for your future Discover your future career path and prepare for the 21st Century Workplace, so you ll do what you love and love what you do! Students will take bus trips to explore various career paths available at locations such as sports arenas, theme parks, medical facilities and more. 9

Public Safety: Stanton Campus George Campus Safety and Discipline Please review the Parent/Camper Handbook (located online) with your child prior to their first day of camp. Campers will be notified of the safety rules on the first day of camp. Campers will be reminded to make safe choices when necessary, and will be responsible for the decisions they make. Please do not send a sick child to camp. Discipline problems will be handled in the following manner (refer to the Camper Handbook for details); 1. Individual behavior problems will be handled by the counselors. 2. If problems persist, the camper will be referred to the camp manager and the parents will be notified. 3. If problem continues to exist, the camper will be dismissed from camp and will not be permitted to return. Refunds will not be granted if campers are dismissed from camp. Automatic dismissal from camp may occur at the camp manager s discretion. Payment Options: In person payment may be made by check (made payable to DTCC), cash, VISA, Master Card or Discover. Spaces will not be held without payment. Please note: The $25 non-refundable deposit is applied to the balance. This is not an extra fee. 13 2017 Camp Registration Form 3 of 9 Camp Authorization Form Camper s Name: Due to state of Delaware Public Health requirements, we are mandated to have on file current immunization records for all campers attending our camp. You must provide a photocopy of your child s immunization record that indicates they are up to date on the following immunizations: Diphtheria Rubella Measles Tetanus Mumps (Please print) I, hereby give my consent to Delaware Technical Community College, who will be caring for my child, to arrange for emergency/medical/surgical/dental care and treatment (including diagnostic procedures) necessary to preserve the health of my child. I acknowledge that I am responsible for all reasonable charges in connection with any care and treatment rendered. Medical Instructions If it is necessary for your child to receive medication during camp, please do the following: 1. You MUST have a Pre-Camp meeting with Camp Management to discuss any maintenance drugs that are to be administered during camp. These meetings are not required for a child who will be receiving medication for a one time ailment (i.e. ear infection, sinus infection). 2. Deposits: The twenty five dollars ($25) of your camp payment is considered a deposit to hold your child s camp seat. Deposits are nonrefundable but it is possible that the deposit may be transferred according to the Transfer Policy below.
