2 Nativity Service All are welcome at the manger Welcome Good afternoon, we welcome you to our Nativity Service. Today we will come before God to hear again the good news of the birth of Jesus Christ for He has provided for us a mighty Saviour. Hymn Come Lord Jesus Come Come, Lord Jesus come. 3 O Lord our God: in this season of Advent, we come to you to offer you our worship, to hear your word and to reflect your love. May the words we know of old take on new meaning so the joy given to Mary, the glad tidings told to the shepherds and the Christ-child visited by the Magi, become good news for us and all the world. Amen Hymn Hark the herald angels sing Hark! the herald angels sing glory to the newborn King, peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. 4 The story of Christmas Traditional MARY No room for the baby in Bethlehem s inn, Only a cattle shed, No home on this Earth for the dear Son of God, Nowhere to lay His head. Jesus is born; my own dear son. He is God s anointed one. Hymn O little town of Bethlehem O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie! above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by: yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light; the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth, and praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on Earth. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell: O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel. JOSEPH The baby s name Emmanuel, Means God has come on Earth to dwell. As angels choirs appeared in the skies, The shepherds could hardly believe their eyes. The angels told them about God s Son, Whose life on earth had just begun. Please remain seated Hymn Away in a Manger (Sunday School) Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head; the stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, but little Lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, and stay by my side until morning is nigh. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay close by me for ever, and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, and fit us for heaven, to live with thee there. ANGELS We sang about the Saviour s birth, And of God s love for men on Earth. In Bethlehem in a stable bare, The Son of God is lying there. Look all you people great and small, This child was born to save you all. 5

6 KINGS We followed His star in the sky above, For we knew He was sent by the God of love. I bought gold to crown Him King, Because He is Lord of everything. I bought incense smelling sweet, And I kneel in worship at His feet. I bought him myrrh, a fragrant spice, For he will be our sacrifice. 7 Let us Pray Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus sake. Amen. And as our Saviour taught us we pray Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.your Kingdom come, your will be done, on Earth as in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours. Now and for ever. Amen.
