Some of these mistakes you may already be doing without realizing, so let's take a look. As you may now be aware of, Feng Shui is focused on enhancing positive energy in different parts of your home to harmonize your environment, which brings great benefits into our lives in a variety of ways. To do this we can use colors, objects, symbols, their placement and even (most importantly) our minds to best reflect our life's desires. However, having a negative mind-set, placing the wrong object, symbol or color, which relates to a destructive element into the wrong area of your home can create a gateway for bringing bad energy into your environment, which will have a dramatic, negative effect on certain parts of your life. The most dangerous part is, your feng shui knowledge is still growing and you may not even be aware of this attraction of bad energy you've created. You could even have things in your home right now that are attracting bad energy! This is why a much greater feng shui understanding is really needed to make sure that this doesn't happen to you. To help you become more aware, here's an introduction to some of the common mistakes that people who are new to feng shui make, and how you can learn to avoid them!

This is one of the most important aspects of feng shui and without this, your efforts may all be in vain. You must always act with pure intention and a positive mind when using feng shui in your home, always. For example, you have just learned a new technique for attracting more wealth into your life and want to try it out right now. Whether it's hanging a picture in a certain area, painting a wall or placing objects, you need to visualize your outcome, what you want to achieve by doing this action. Feel the genuine happiness it will bring, imagine it already happening, see the image in your mind and feel it. You must practice feng shui always with pure intention. This is something that people looking to change their lives overlook far too many times and wonder why things don't go their way. You must positively visualize your goals! Do not underestimate how important this is in Feng Shui and you'll reap all of the rewards it can bring.

If you put clutter in the path of energy, creating barriers, blockages, the energy can't move, can't flow and becomes stagnant with nowhere to freely go. The stagnant energy is bad energy or sha chi, ideal for attracting more bad energy into your home, if that's what you want. Obviously you don't, so you must make an effort to tidy, clean and even get rid of old things you don't use anymore. Create an open, free flowing home, free of clutter to invite good chi, harmonizing and energizing your home. You can't go too far wrong with this technique, the less clutter a space has, the more room there is for flowing energy, which is positive energy. As soon as it gets blocked or stops, it becomes bad and continues to attract more of the same. So keep your home clutter-less and keep good energy flowing!

If you fail to care properly for these living things, and they start to droop uncharacteristically, dry-up or even die, you should remove them immediately before they start to attract bad energy into your home. Although healthy plants are very useful for attracting good energy in feng shui, don't have them inside your bedroom, it's the only place you shouldn't put them. A living thing in a state of illness will attract a lot of bad energy to it. If you know you're not a great plant keeper, save yourself the worry and keep them out of your home. If you decide to keep them, you must make an effort to keep them well cared for, in return they'll contribute to enhancing positive energy in your space for as long as they're healthy!

Especially if you have heavy wooden beams that hang above you as you sleep (as a lot of houses naturally have, or even just for decoration). Where the beam crosses your bed will be where negative chi/energy will attack. For example, if that position is above your head, you will have frequent headaches. Move your bed away from the beams to solve this and also away from the door. Energy that enters your room will hit your bed first an often causes sleepless nights, so move your bed away so that the energy can enter and flow naturally with no obstruction helping you to have more restful, stress-free sleep.

Otherwise it is interpreted as losing sight and lack of purpose in your life. We all have dreams and goals, things we want to achieve so don't push them even further away without realizing. Just try to make a habit of entering through the front door only. Here's what I used to do, it helped me out a lot and it may work for you too: I used to lock the back door and put the key in an awkward to reach place in my kitchen. Somewhere I could still get to if I really had to. The side-effect is that it put me off trying to open the door again, it was just to much of a hassle! It worked. Try and find a trick that works for you until you can really take control of it yourself.
