3 Based in Findlay, Ohio, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is the nation s fourth largest crude oil refiner with more than 1.7 million barrels per calendar day of capacity in its seven refinery system. MPC s marketing network comprises approximately 2,750 Speedway convenience stores, approximately 5,460 Marathon Brand retail outlets with approximately 590 retail outlet contract assignments primarily in the Southeast and select Northeast states, and a large wholesale business. MPC serves the Midwest, Southeast, Northeast and Gulf Coast as a petroleum products marketer, with 81 owned and operated light product and asphalt terminals. MPC owns, leases or has ownership interests in approximately 8,300 miles of pipeline. MPC s roots reach back to the earliest years of the oil industry in the United States. 5 Garyville Refinery MPC s Garyville refinery, completed in 1976, is the last major grassroots refinery built in the U.S. Located on the Mississippi River, midway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, La., the refinery receives crude oil delivered via the Mississippi River and Louisiana Offshore Oil Port and from Gulf of Mexico production. In 2009, MPC completed a major expansion project, which provided a significant increase in crude oil refining capacity. MPC continues to optimize the refinery and has increased its crude oil capacity to the current level of 522,000 bpcd, making it the third largest refinery in the U.S. Crude oil capacity: 522,000 bpcd Crude Oil Supply: A wide variety of both sweet and sour crude oils Operations: Crude distillation, hydrocracking, catalytic cracking, hydrotreating, reforming, alkylation, isomerization, sulfur recovery and coking Products: Gasoline, distillates, fuelgrade coke, asphalt, polymer-grade propylene, propane, slurry, sulfur and dry gas Product Distribution: Pipeline, transport truck, barge, rail and ocean tanker Employees: Approximately 925 Page 3
6 Galveston Bay Refinery MPC s Galveston Bay refinery was acquired in The plant is one of the largest and most complex refineries in the U.S. It is well positioned on the Texas Gulf Coast, with the flexibility to receive and process a wide range of crude oils, and is strategically located to distribute finished products to the Midwest, Mid- Atlantic, New York Harbor, Southeastern U.S. and export markets including Mexico, South America and Europe. 7 Catlettsburg Refinery MPC s Catlettsburg refinery is located in northeastern Kentucky on the western bank of the Big Sandy River, near the confluence with the Ohio River. It was purchased in 1924 by Swiss Oil Corporation (then parent company of Ashland Inc.) and became fully owned by MPC in Crude oil capacity: 242,000 bpcd Crude Oil Supply: Sweet and sour crude oils Operations: Crude distillation, hydrotreating, catalytic cracking, alkylation, reforming, isomerization and sulfur recovery Products: Gasoline, distillates, asphalt, aromatics, propane, refinery-grade propylene and sulfur Product Distribution: Pipeline, barge, transport truck and rail Employees: Approximately 775 Page 5
8 Robinson Refinery MPC s Robinson refinery was built in 1906 by the Lincoln Oil Company and purchased by Marathon (then The Ohio Oil Company) in Today, the refinery has a full conversion processing scheme designed to maximize production of gasoline and diesel fuel. Crude oil capacity: 212,000 bpcd Crude Oil Supply: Sweet and sour crude oils Operations: Crude distillation, catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, hydrotreating, coking, reforming, alkylation, aromatics extraction, isomerization and sulfur recovery Products: Gasoline, distillates, propane, anode-grade coke, aromatics, slurry and sulfur Product Distribution: Pipeline, transport truck and rail Employees: Approximately 700 Page 6
9 Detroit Refinery MPC s Detroit refinery was acquired with the purchase of Aurora Gasoline Company by Marathon (then The Ohio Oil Company) in It is the only petroleum refinery operating in Michigan. In November 2012, the company completed the Detroit Heavy Oil Upgrade Project that increased the refinery s crude oil capacity by 14,000 bpcd and its heavy crude oil processing capacity by 80,000 bpcd, adding more than 400,000 gallons per day of clean transportation fuels to the marketplace. 10 Canton Refinery MPC s Canton refinery, built in 1931, was acquired by Ashland Inc. in 1948 when it merged with Allied Oil Company. The refinery became a part of MPC s refining system in 1998 and has been fully owned by MPC since The refinery is a moderate conversion plant with a processing configuration that enables it to run heavy sour crudes as well as sweet crudes. In December 2014, the company completed construction of a condensate splitter, which increased the refinery s capacity to process condensate from the Utica Shale region. Crude oil capacity: 90,000 bpcd Crude Oil Supply: Sweet and sour crude oils including production from the nearby Utica Shale Operations: Crude distillation, catalytic cracking, hydrotreating, reforming, alkylation and sulfur recovery Products: Gasoline, distillates, asphalt, roofing flux, propane, refinery-grade propylene, slurry and sulfur Product Distribution: Pipeline, transport truck and rail Employees: Approximately 375 Page 8
11 Texas City Refinery MPC s Texas City refinery was built in 1931 and was acquired by Marathon (then The Ohio Oil Company) in 1962 from Plymouth Oil Company. It is located off the entrance to the Houston Ship Channel. Crude oil capacity: 84,000 bpcd Crude Oil Supply: Light sweet crude oils Operations: Crude distillation, catalytic cracking, alkylation, reforming, aromatics extraction and sulfur recovery Products: Gasoline, chemical-grade propylene, propane, aromatics, dry gas, slurry and sulfur Product Distribution: Pipeline, barge and rail Employees: Approximately 275 Page 9

Ethanol volumes sold in blended gasoline were 78 MBPD in Capacity to blend E-10 across its entire gasoline distribution network. Interest in ethanol production facilities in Albion, Mich., Clymers, Ind. and Greenville, Ohio. These plants have a combined ethanol production capacity of 275 million gallons per year and are managed by a co-owner. Biodiesel Blended Diesel Fuel: MPC sells biodiesel-blended diesel fuel in 15 states. Owns a biodiesel facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, that produces biodiesel, glycerin and other by products. The capacity of the plant is approximately 60 million gallons per year. Page 10

All cargoes transported are liquid and include among other commodities crude oil, asphalt, gasoline, diesel fuel, vacuum gas oil, feedstocks, chemicals and ethanol. Marine s inland river operation utilizes 18 owned and one leased inland waterway towboats and a fleet of 199 owned and 12 leased barges, as well as contracted and chartered equipment. Page 11
14 TM Pipeline Transportation MPC owns, leases or has ownership interests in approximately 8,300 miles of pipeline including interests in the Capline, Centennial, Explorer, LOCAP, LOOP, Maumee, Muskegon and Wolverine systems.
