Robert Lowenbach (now retired) and Dr. Jack Gardner, Psy.D. Robert Lowenbach was appointed to the District Court Bench on January 2, 1994 and retired in From July 1981 until December 1993, he was a District Court Magistrate. He received his undergraduate degree from American University, and his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law. He is a Child Trauma fellow, a judge in residence with the Colorado Judicial Branch, and a consultant dedicated to improving court and agency practice for dependent children and their families. Dr. Jack Gardner is a licensed psychologist and a member of the Colorado Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. He is a frequent presenter for the Colorado State Judicial Branch and the American Judges Association, as well as numerous other community organizations. Ethics with John - presented by 8th Judicial District Court Magistrate John Jostad John Jostad is a District Court Magistrate in the 8th Judicial District. Prior to being appointed as a magistrate, he served in private practice for over 20 years. His practice focused on administrative law, litigation and professional responsibility, with a specialty focus on aviation and employment matters. Mr. Jostad is a graduate of the University of Denver College of Law and a long-standing member of the Colorado Bar Association s Ethics Committee. The Nationalizing of Law Practice: The Future of Law Practice in Colorado - presented by University of Denver Sturm College of Law Professor Eli Wald Eli Wald holds SJD and LLM degrees from Harvard Law School and LLB and BA degrees from Tel-Aviv University. Prior to joining the University of Denver Sturm College of Law he was a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City. Wald s academic interests include the American legal profession, legal ethics and corporate law. His recent research has examined topics such as attorneys loyalty to clients, increased lawyer mobility, attorney-client communications and the ethno-religious and cultural identity of large law firms. Prof. Wald, a CLE instructor, legal ethics expert commentator for LexisNexis and expert witness, is a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Standing Committee on the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct and a member of the Colorado State Bar Association s Ethics Committee. * Colorado has approved this seminar for 9 CLE credits, including 4.2 ethics. 4 The 8th Annual Nuts & Bolts CLE Featuring a Q&A Session with Weld County s Judicial Officers! Judge James F. Hartmann, Jr. was appointed to the district court in 2003 after 13 years in the District Attorney's Office. His last position was as the Weld County Chief Deputy District Attorney. He obtained his law degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. He was appointed Chief Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial District on July 1, Judge Thomas J. Quammen was appointed to the District Court bench in July of Prior to this appointment, he was with the District Attorney s offices for the 17th and 19th Judicial Districts. Born and raised in Greeley, Judge Quammen received his Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC, a Master s Degree from CU and his JD from the University of Missouri. Judge Dinsmore Tuttle was appointed District Court Magistrate in October of She presided over the delinquency docket for three years and then in the Family Court, hearing dependency & neglect and domestic relations cases. In January 2009 she became a district court judge. She currently presides over civil and mental health matters, as well as serves as the alternate water judge of Division 1. Judge Elizabeth Strobel was appointed to the district court bench effective July 1, She currently handles civil and family law matters. Judge Strobel received her undergraduate degree from Montana State University in 1974 and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado in She was with the Weld District Attorney s Office for five years and began private practice, emphasizing family law, in Judge Michele Meyer was appointed to the County Court bench in September of She is the Presiding County Court Judge. Prior to her appointment, she was a Chief Deputy District Attorney with the Weld County District Attorney s Office. Judge Meyer joined Weld County District Attorney s Office in November of Judge Meyer obtained her law degree from the University of Denver and has an undergraduate degree from Colorado State University. Magistrate Randall Lococo was appointed to his position in October He is a trained mediator. He was admitted to practice law in Colorado in 1994 after practicing a short time in California. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration in 1988 from Loyola Marymount University and his law degree in 1991 from the University of San Diego. Magistrate Mark Gonzales was appointed to his position in January of He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1994 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in Magistrate Rebecca Koppes Conway was appointed to her position on September 3, She graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in Since that time, she served at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Adams County District Attorney s office, as well in private practice as a litigator. She presently handles a combination of county court and district court duties. Submit your questions to be asked by Moderator William L. Crosier, Esq.! All questions will be asked anonymously. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in business administration from Valparaiso University in 1992 and her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in Her practice focuses on family law, including divorce, custody, child support, visitation, legal separation and paternity. William L. Crosier, Esq. Is a solo practitioner in Greeley, Colorado. He received his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law. His practice focuses on general civil law, business law, divorce and estate planning. Mr. Crosier has been a long-standing presenter and moderator at the Nuts & Bolts CLE starting in its second year. The Honorable Thomas R. French, District Court Judge, 8th Judicial District. Judge French was appointed to the District Court on January 1, He received his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1977 and his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge French was a general civil practitioner. William McAdams, Esq. is a solo practitioner in Greeley, Colorado. A former district attorney, Mr. McAdams now focuses on criminal defense. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1994, and his law degree from Drake University in The Honorable Dana Nichols, County Court Judge, 19th Judicial District. Judge Nichols was appointed to the County Court bench in She received her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University and her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Nichols served as a deputy public defender. Michael C. Payne, Esq. is a senior associate attorney at the Northern Colorado real estate and business law firm of Otis, Coan & Peters, LLC. He received his law degree from the University of Kansas in His practice focuses on real estate and business matters, with an emphasis on issues involving creditors rights and lender liability. Jennifer Lynn Peters, Esq. is a member of the Northern Colorado real estate and business law firm of Otis, Coan & Peters, LLC. She received her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in Her practice focuses on complex real estate and business litigation, probate litigation, and appeals. Kimberly B. Schutt, Esq. is a senior associate attorney at the law firm of Wick & Trautwein, LLC in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ms. Schutt received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois in 1992, and her law degree from Chicago-Kent Law School in Her practice emphasizes personal injury, construction defects, governmental immunity and insurance law. Sara K. Stieben, Esq. is an associate attorney at the Northern Colorado real estate and business law firm of Otis, Coan & Peters, LLC. She received her law degree from the University of Kansas in Her practice focuses on real estate and business litigation, with a focus on issues involving creditors rights, and probate litigation. Laurie R. Stirman, Esq. is an associate attorney at the Stirman Law Office in Fort Collins, Colorado. She graduated from Colorado State University in 2003, and received her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in Her practice focuses primarily on bankruptcy, estate planning, litigation, and adoptions. The Honorable Todd L. Taylor, District Court Judge, 19th Judicial District. Judge Taylor was appointed to the District Court on August 23, He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Taylor practiced in the areas of family law, criminal defense and administrative law.
