1 Part 3 Becoming Who God Intended: Acceptance and the Father In this message we'll be looking at what the Bible says about our acceptance and God the Father. ========== Ephesians 3:14-15 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, Matthew 6:19-21 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Main Idea: The Treasure of the Father We focus our attention on what we decide is the most important reality in our lives. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Principle: When Deity acts, the act is always by a particular member of the Trinity. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Principle: Every person adopted by God has to make the choice that God is his/her real Dad. Salvation: The Father chooses The Son saves The Spirit convicts John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

2 John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. John 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: Service: The Father gives results The Son give a place The Spirit gives a gift 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. Our Sins: The Father is satisfied The Son pays the penalty The Spirit is grieved Romans 5:11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Hebrews 12:7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. 1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

3 Prayer: The Father is our focus The Son is our High Priest The Spirit changes us Matthew 6:9 Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Hebrews 4:14-16 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. John 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
