2 I. PERSONNEL TRAINING BULK CO2 SYSTEM SAFETY GUIDELINES A) All employees that come in contact with CO2 and customers that use CO2 should be trained in basic CO2 safety and have a general knowledge of how a bulk CO2 system works. B.) Delivery drivers who fill bulk CO2 systems should be able to identify leaks, vacuum problems and other maintenance and repair issues when filling a bulk CO2 cylinder. It is recommended that drivers and service technicians be equipped with portable CO2 monitors, II. BULK CO2 FILLING PROCEDURE A.) The driver should perform a visual inspection of all system components (gauges, safety devices, valves and plumbing) and look for visible signs of leaks on the bulk CO2 system and/or anything that would indicate a leak downstream in the beverage system. B). The fill line valve should be closed, except when filling or performing repairs on the system. C.) The actual filing of the cylinder should be observed by the driver, at the cylinder, when the cylinder is close to full. III. INSTALLATIONS A.) The bulk CO2 system (cylinder) should be installed at grade level and within 20 feet of an outside wall. The fill box must be located in a well-ventilated area outside, free from obstructions and low areas where CO2 gas could accumulate. Precautions should be taken to ensure that CO2 venting from the fill box cannot re-enter the building. A bulk CO2 cylinder should not be installed more than six inches from the floor. B.) CO2 lines should be visible, secured and clearly labeled. Avoid installing CO2 lines near heat or electrical sources. CO2 lines should not be enclosed inside walls without a protective sleeve. (ie: PVC pipe.) C.) Warning signs communicating the possible presence and risks of CO2 gas should be clearly posted. The primary CO2 shut-off valve should be clearly labeled on the bulk CO2 cylinder. IV. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTIONS A.) Every year the bulk CO2 systems should be inspected by the bulk CO2 distributor for vacuum integrity, leaks, metal fatigue, (cracks) broken gauges, worn or damaged hoses, malfunctioning relief valves, etc.

3 B.) A maintenance and repair log (where inspections and repairs can be recorded) should be maintained and may be attached to the cylinder. V. REGULATIONS Bulk CO2 distributors must follow and adhere to all federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes pertaining to hulk CO2 systems. VI. ACCOUNT ABILITY The bulk CO2 distributor agrees it has a responsibility to its customers to educate them in bulk CO2 safety. It is in this regard, that the following be suggested: A) Confined space/ below grade installations should have a CO2 monitor/ detector installed and mechanical ventilation should be considered. Bulk CO2 cylinders that are installed outside should be protected from damage by vehicles and vandals. B) CO2 powered pumps installed in confined spaces or below grade should be exhausted to the outside.

FILL BOX- Outside station that contains the delivery hose connection and vent hose (CO2 exhaust) exit. CGA- Compressed Gas Association, Inc.
