2 1 Getting to know the Monitor And Camera Congratulations on your purchase of this Digital Wireless Security System from Swann. This guide will familiarize you with the features and functionality of your wireless monitor and camera kit and get you up and running as soon as possible. Once you ve installed the monitor and camera kit, read the guide on the reverse side to find details on setting up your system. Before installing anything permanently, connect everything up and test the system - just to make sure nothing was damaged during shipping! MONITOR DC 5V Power Input - For connecting the supplied power adapter. 2. AV Out Port - Allows you to connect to your TV or an external display device using the supplied AV cable. 3. SD Card Slot - Slot for inserting a standard SD card (up to 32GB) to save SD card-based recordings. 4. USB Port - For recording videos to an external USB storage device (up to 1TB).

3 MENU OK Power and Link LED Indicator - Left side lights up when the monitor is turned on; blinks when the monitor is on standby mode. Right side lights up when the monitor links successfully with the camera. 2. Display Mode - Change the arrangement of channels on your screen. Options are: 2 x 2, single camera view and Trash Button - In the Playback Interface screen, press to delete the selected video file. In live viewing mode, press to switch display between the monitor and the TV (if connected via AV Out port). 4. Menu Button - Display the menu system, or return to a previous screen. 5. Arrows / OK Button - For navigating through the menu system and confirming choices. In live viewing mode, the left/right arrows select a channel (and audio source), while the up/down arrows act as volume control. The selected channel is identified by a red V on the screen. 6. Power Button - Press and hold for 3 seconds to turn the monitor on or off (note that while the monitor is off, recording is not possible). 7. Record Button - Immediately start recording (SD-card/USB device must be inserted) of the selected channel, even if recordings were not scheduled or triggered by PIR motion sensor. Press again to stop recording. 8. Scan Mode Button - Scan between channels in screen layout where the current channel in focus is shown on the larger display. 9. Playback Button - Shortcut to quickly access the Playback Interface screen to watch recordings. 10. Antenna - The supplied antenna attaches to the gold connector here. 11. Stand - Lift out the stand by pushing the release tab. 12. Speaker - Audio transmitted from the camera will be heard from here.

4 CAMERA Pair Button - This is used to pair the camera with the monitor during pairing mode. 2. Power LED Indicator - Lights up solid red when the camera is supplied power through the power adapter. 3. Link LED Indicator - Lights up solid green when the camera is paired with the monitor. 4. Power Connector - For connecting the supplied power adapter. 5. Antenna Connector - For attaching the supplied antenna. 4

5 2 Installing the Monitor and Camera Kit A Screw an antenna onto the gold connector on the back of the monitor and the camera. For best reception, make sure the antenna is vertically positioned.

6 B Attach the power adapter connector labelled RECEIVER ONLY to the DC 5V Power input located on the side of the monitor and then plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet. The blue Power LED on the monitor starts blinking when the monitor is connected to a power source. C Attach the power adapter connector labelled CAMERA ONLY to the DC 5V Power input cable on the back of the camera and then plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet. The Power LED on the back of the camera turns red when the camera is connected to a power source.

7 3 Powering up the Monitor OK Press and hold the Power button on the front of the monitor until the Swann Loading splash screen appears. Wait a few seconds for live video from the camera to appear on the screen. Follow the guide on the reverse side to learn how to configure basic settings for the system. MENU The camera(s) which come in the box are pre-paired with the monitor. You ll only need to manually pair cameras if you re adding cameras, are troubleshooting or want to pair cameras with different channels. For more details on pairing cameras, see the user manual.

8 4 Mounting the Camera The camera comes with a built-in stand, which you can mount to a wall or any suitable vertical flat surface. Place the base of the camera stand in the location you want to mount it and mark the screw holes on the surface to position the screws. Then, using the included screws and wall plugs, screw the camera into place. Adjust the viewing angle of the camera by loosening the screws shown here using the supplied L-wrench. Tighten them once the camera is in the desired position. When mounting the camera, bring the monitor with you because it s easier to obtain the best view for the camera when you can actually see what you are aiming at.

9 MENU 5 (Optional) Connecting to your TV The monitor s AV Out port lets you connect to your TV to view live video and recordings on a much bigger display. Connect the three color-coded connectors on the AV cable to the corresponding video and audio inputs on Connect the black AV connector on the AV cable to the AV Out port located on the side of the monitor. Press the Trash button on the monitor to switch the monitor s display to your TV. Make sure you set your TV to display from the AV input ports connected to the monitor. OK Is your TV screen flickering? Navigate to Menu > System > TV System and make sure the selected setting (PAL or NTSC) is the same as your TV s video format.

10 EN Configuring Basic System Settings The Wireless Monitor s On-screen Menu allows you to access a variety of settings (System, Record, Playback, Camera and Alarm) for the system. Navigating through the menus is easy; use the Arrows to highlight options, the OK button to confirm selections and the MENU button to move back to the previous screen. Now, let s take a moment to run through some important menu options that will allow you to configure basic settings for the system when you turn on the monitor for the first time. Read this guide to get started, then use the user manual to find out more about all the available menu options.

11 1 Language From the Main Menu: Select System > Language Choose the language you would like the menu system to be displayed in.

12 2 Date and Time From the Main Menu: Select System > Date / Time It s important that the system has the correct date and time to ensure recorded events are properly time stamped and schedules are triggered at the right time.

13 3 Status Icons From the Main Menu: Select System > Display Items Extra Icons can be displayed on the monitor screen to provide you with additional information on the monitor s status. RSSI: Shows the monitor signal strength. The number of bars displayed represents the strength of the signal received from the camera. Four bars indicate the strongest signal. SD/USB status: Appears when either SD or USB memory device is inserted. Camera: Displays the channel number.

14 4 TV System From the Main Menu: Select System > TV System If you are outputting the monitor s display to your TV via the AV Out port, you will need to set the appropriate TV video standard. For example, NTSC (used in USA, Japan, Canada) or PAL (used in UK and Australia). The buttons on the monitor still work as usual even when the monitor is connected to your TV.

15 5 Recording Storage Media From the Main Menu: Select System > Storage for Recording The monitor can record videos to either an SD memory card* (up to 32GB) or a USB hard drive* (up to 1TB). * SD card/usb device not included. Must be purchased separately,

16 6 Display Brightness From the Main Menu: Select System > Brightness You can adjust the brightness level of the monitor screen if the default brightness level doesn t allow you to see video clearly on the screen. Changing the brightness does not affect the actual images coming from your cameras, just how they are displayed.

17 7 Video Resolution and Quality From the Main Menu: Select Camera > PIP Setting You can change a camera s video resolution and quality setting. High resolution looks sharper and clearer, but require more data and, therefore, a better wireless signal to transmit. The Top quality setting gives you the best looking image possible but also require more space on your storage media when recording videos.

18 8 Motion Detection Alarm From the Main Menu: Select Alarm > PIR Detection The monitor can be set to produce an audio alarm when a camera s infrared sensor detects movement. The volume of the alarm will be determined by the volume setting on the monitor. The camera s infrared sensor is also used to trigger motion-based recording (Select Record > PIR Recording). It s the recommended way to get your system to operate almost autonomously for long periods of time without having to worry about available space in your storage media. QH_350KIT110214E Swann 2014
