1 Give Thanks Wreath Designed By: Lauri Ingram September, 2013 I love to design wreaths for my front door to welcome people, but also showcase wonderful paper creations! A gentle reminder everyday to give thanks for all we have, this wreath is fun to make, uses re-cycled materials and can be customized to any color scheme! Highlighting the wonderful Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, it is a mix of naturals, subtle and bright colors, perfect for the autumn season. Instructions. Step 1 Cut strips of brown paper, approximately 3 wide and 18 to 24 long. You will need enough to wrap around the straw wreath. Note: The length of paper will depend upon what you are using. Since I recycled brown packing paper, my length varied from 18 to 24.

2 Step 2 Using hot glue, adhere one end of the brown paper to the wreath. Wrap strip around wreath, adhering other end with hot glue. Do same with each strip until wreath is covered. Note: I leave the plastic wrap on my straw wreath by choice; you can remove it, but may have little pieces of straw flying about. Step 2 Step 3 Punch out 400 large scallop circles from brown paper using the 2-3/8 Large Scallop punch. Note: I used the brown paper that is often packed in Stampin Up boxes. This paper is thin, so I was able to layer the brown paper and punch through two to three layers at a time. Also, depending upon how dense you want the wreath, you may need more or less scallop circles. Step 3 Step 4 Adhere paper scallops to wreath by applying a dab of hot glue in the center of the scallop, and adhering to covered wreath form. Adhere to wreath in rows. Scrunch up the circle a bit when adhering to wreath form. The more scallop circles you apply, the fuller the effect. For the above 12 wreath, I used approximately 400 scallops. Note: I did NOT cover the back of the wreath, as I was placing on a solid wood door. If you are placing on a glass door, you may want to also cover the back. In this case you will need close to double the number of punched scallop circles.

3 Step 4 Step 4 continued Step 4 completed Step 5 Using the Morning Post stamp set, stamp the letters GIVETHANKS in Chocolate Chip ink on Naturals Ivory card stock. Note: Leave enough room when stamping to punch letters out in next step. Step 6 Using 1-3/8 Circle punch, punch letters out. Step 6 Step 7 Cut 10 2 x 3 pieces of card stock in the following colors: Two Chocolate Chip card stock Two Tangerine Tango card stock Three Crushed Curry card stock Three Soft Sky card stock

4 Step 8 On each piece, on the 2 edge, measure in 1 and cut up 1. Step 8 Step 9 To create banner, cut up from bottom corner to top of 1 slit. Complete Steps 8 and 9 on each of the 10 pieces of 2 x 3 card stock. Step 9 Step 10 Using the Square Lattice and Houndstooth embossing folders, emboss the flags as follows fitting two flags in the folder at the same time: One Chocolate Chip, three Crushed Curry and one Soft Sky card stock: Houndstooth embossing folder One Chocolate Chip, two Soft Sky, two Tangerine Tango card stock: Square Lattice embossing folder Step 10

5 Note: I have designed the end product in such a way that the embossing patterns alternate by the letters. Step 11 Cut ten ¾ x 12 strips of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (DSP). Note: I chose five different pattern sheets. Since the Sweater Weather DSP is double sided, this allows me to have each medallion a different pattern. Step 12 Using your Simply Scored, score the pieces lengthwise in ¼ increments. Step 12 Step 13 Accordion fold one strip of Sweater Weather DSP. Repeat for each strip of Sweater Weather DSP. Step 13 Step 14 Adhere Multipurpose Liquid Glue to one end of the strip. Attach end with glue to other end, forming a ring. Repeat for each accordion strip of Sweater Weather DSP.

6 Step 14 Step 15 Punch out ten ¾ circles in Chocolate Chip card stock. Doing one at a time, put a glob of hot glue on the circle. Step 16 Smoosh down accordion ring onto circle with hot glue. Using fingers, smoosh edges toward center forming a tight medallion. Hold for several seconds until glue cools and medallion holds closed. Repeat for each accordion piece, so you end up with ten medallions. Note: Medallion will be between 1-¾ and 2 round, depending on how tight you make the circle. Step 16 Step 17 Adhere punched out letter from Step 6 on top of medallion, using hot glue. Repeat for each letter and medallion. Step 17

7 Step 18 Adhere the letter/medallion piece on an embossed flag from Step 10. Suggested color order as follows: G: Medallion/letter on Chocolate Chip banner, Houndstooth embossed I: Medallion/letter on Soft Sky banner, Square Lattice embossed V: Medallion/letter on Crushed Curry Banner, Houndstooth embossed E: Medallion/letter on Tangerine Tango banner, Square Lattice embossed T: Medallion/letter on Crushed Curry Banner, Houndstooth embossed H: Medallion/letter on Chocolate Chip banner, Square Lattice Embossed A: Medallion/letter on Soft Sky banner, Houndstooth Embossed N: Medallion/letter on Tangerine Tango banner, Square Lattice embossed K: Medallion/letter on Crushed Curry Banner, Houndstooth embossed S: Medallion/letter on Soft Sky banner, Square Lattice embossed Step 18 Step 19 Cut two 20 pieces of Burlap ribbon. Cut one 4 piece of Burlap ribbon. Cut in half lengthwise. Step 19 Step 20 Take one piece of the short ribbon, loop and hot glue to the back of the covered wreath form.

8 Step 20 Step 21 Take the long pieces of Burlap from Step 19. Adhere one end of each piece to the back of the covered wreath. Step 21 Step 22 Wrap the pieces around the front of the wreath so they go across the front at a slight angle. Step 22 Step 23 Continue wrapping the ribbon around the left side of the wreath around to the back, and adhere with hot glue. Trim any excess ribbon. The back of the wreath will look like this:

9 Step 23 Step 24 Flip the wreath right side up. Using hot glue, adhere the letter/medallion/flags to the ribbon. Place the word GIVE on the top row, leaving a little space to the left for the bow in Steps Center the word THANKS on the bottom length of ribbon. Step 24 Step 25 Cut a 48 length of Crushed Curry Chevron ribbon. Loop the ribbon back and forth, pinching the center with your fingers so you have approximately seven loops top and seven loops bottom. Step 25 Step 26 Tie a piece of Linen Thread around the center of the looped ribbon.

10 Step 26 Step 27 Tie a piece of Early Espresso Baker s Twine through holes of a Tangerine Tango Basics Button, and tie a bow. Flatten bow so loops are flat and tails are looped behind bow loops. Hot glue button to front of bow. Step 27 Step 28 Stamp Magnificent Maple in Chocolate Chip ink on piece of Sweater Weather DSP. Step 28 Step 29 Fussy cut leaf and tack using hot glue behind the button on the bow from Step 27. Using Hot Glue, adhere to the Burlap ribbon to the left of the GIVE.
