5 Foundations & TrustMark Foundations wish to ensure that the HIA sector is at the forefront in promoting the new enhanced customer care standards brought by the Government s Consumer Rights Legislation. TrustMark has made changes to its Core Criteria to reflect the new legislation and it s enhanced customer care standards. Foundations key messages to HIA members: - Non TrustMark members to become TrustMark Members - Existing TrustMark members to ensure they re complicit with TrustMark s new Core Criteria.

6 Changes to the Core Criteria There are tw0 key changes effecting HIA members. 1. Contractors are to become TrustMark registered. Contractors working on behalf of a HIA, and under their TrustMark membership banner, are to become independently registered TrustMark members. 2. Insurance Insurance Backed Guarantees (IBG s) are to be provided for works in excess of 500 Ex VAT in value. - Currently optional - Anticipated to become mandatory as of July, 2015.

7 The Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG). TrustMark s Objectives. To ensure that consumers have adequate protection available should a registered Firm cease trading in regard to prepayments, deposits, work in progress and, for two years post completion, for workmanship. Claims relating to materials used will be subject to the manufacturer s guarantee and all consumer statutory rights. TrustMark Core Criteria, p16 Section 8, Insurance Protection, April 2014.

8 IBG Cover What s Required for TrustMark Members? Protection should a registered firm cease trading. Areas of cover include: - Pre-payments & deposits. - Work in progress - Rectification of defects or major damage, including non compliance with Building Regulations. - For 2 years post completion, for workmanship Claims relating to the materials used would be subject to the manufacturers guarantee.

9 Diversity s IBG Low Cost Insurance Premiums 2 years cover from only Ex VAT 100% TrustMark Compliant Nothing more, nothing less. Bespoke insurance premiums for HIA s based on work type and contract value keeping premium costs low. Not a one size fits all approach lowers wastage, reducing the cost of cover e.g. external wall coatings & conservatory installs have their own premiums. No administration fees.

10 Diversity s HIA Insurance Backed Guarantees (IBG s) Minor Works HIA Handymen / Domestic Maintenance Scheme. Domestic maintenance contracts, also includes painters and decorators. Works where NO prepayments, deposits, or stage payments are taken. 2 years cover excluding deposit & prepayment cover. Cost = ex VAT. Contract Value (ex vat) 0-5,000. Major Adaptations HIA Tradesmen Scheme. Includes: Roofing, Electrical, Plumbing, & General Building works. 2 years cover including deposit & prepayment cover. Cost = ex VAT. Contract Value (ex vat) 0-15,000. NB: Next contract value option 15,001-30,000 = 28.09
