3 INSTALLATION 4. Pull away the weatherstrip and remove the left A-pillar trim (two clips). Customer Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by do-it-yourselfers. 1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio unit and the navigation system, then write down the radio presets. 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. 3. Using a rubber mallet wrapped with a shop towel, lightly tap the area marked SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG on the left A-pillar trim to push in the vehicle clip. Make sure to tap area perpendicular to the vehicle. WEATHERSTRIP Pull away. 2 S LEFT A-PILLAR TRIM LEFT A-PILLAR Lightly tap AT 5. Remove and discard the old clip from the left A-pillar trim, and install the new A-pillar clip to the left A-pillar trim. PIN LEFT A-PILLAR TRIM PIN SHOP TOWEL LEFT A-PILLAR TRIM OLD Discard. 4 6. Turn the knob and remove the driver s dashboard under cover (one clip and two tabs). If equipped with an accessory security system, unplug the connector. 8. Pull away the weatherstrip and remove the driver s kick panel (two clips and two retaining tabs). 2 S 2 TABS KNOB Turn. DRIVER S DASHBOARD UNDER COVER AS 7. Remove the fuse access panel (two hooks, five tabs, and two clips. If equipped, one vehicle clip and unplug the vehicle connector). 5 10. On M/T model, turn and remove the shift knob. 13. Pull down the left grab rail and remove two caps (two retaining tabsfor each cap). Turn. S SHIFT KNOB LEFT GRAB RAIL 2 CAPS 4 TABS Pull down. 2 RETAINING TABS 11. On A/T model, move the select lever to the N position, and apply the parking brake. BOLT COVER AR LEFT GRAB RAIL AT 14. Using a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with a masking tape, remove the left grab rail (four tabs). 15. Remove the left sunvisor holder by turning it clockwise. BOLT TAB Rotate while pressing down on the tab. FLAT-TIP SCREWDRIVER Wrap with a masking tape. Turn. CENTER CONSOLE SELECT LEVER Move to the N position CR Rotate. LEFT SUNVISOR HOLDER 12. Remove the center console (two clips, remove the bolt cover then the one bolt and the one clip). LEFT SUNVISOR BT 16. Remove the left sunvisor (one tab). 6 17. Remove the right sunvisor holder by turning it clockwise. Installing the and Routing the Harness 20. Using a scissors, cut out the template as shown. RIGHT SUNVISOR TEMPLATE Turn. Rotate. RIGHT SUNVISOR HOLDER Cut out. SCISSORS AB If the vehicle is equipped with the map light, continue with step 18; otherwise, go to step Remove the left and right map light lens (eight retaining tabs). S 21. Align the template to the front edge of the headliner and attach it with pieces of masking tape. MASKING TAPES TEMPLATE HEADLINER BB EDGE MAP LIGHT RIGHT MAP LIGHT LENS Align. 7 22. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the headliner along the template as shown. HEADLINER MARK 25. Using an utility knife, cut out the headliner at the mark you made in step 22. NOTE: De sure the map light harness is away from the marked area before cutting. HEADLINER Cut out. MARK TEMPLATE FELT-TIP PEN BB 23. Remove the template. 24. If the vehicle is equipped with the map light, remove the aluminum tape, and move the map light harness away from the marked area. UTILITY KNIFE AB 26. Using scissors, cut two EPT sealers in half. Wrap three pieces of cut EPT sealers around the harness at the measurements shown. MARK ALUMINUM TAPE 2 EPT SEALERS Cut in half. 8 28. Attach two 2 A fuse labels to two harness fuse cases. 30. Continue to route the harness up along the left A-pillar. FUSE LABEL (2 A) MASKING TAPE LEFT A-PILLAR CROSS SECTION 5 WIRE TIES 2 FUSE CASES B 29. Route the harness from the left A-pillar trim opening to the fuse lid opening. LEFT A-PILLAR TRIM OPENING WIRE TIES Align. ELECTRICAL TAPE BB 31. Align the electrical tape attached on the harness in step 27 to the vehicle clip. Secure the harness to the vehicle harness with five wire ties as shown. 32. Continue routing the harness to the headliner opening. Be careful not to crease the headliner. 9 33. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the area where the foam block will attach. ADHESIVE BACKING Remove. FOAM BLOCK Clean with isopropyl alcohol. 36. Install the switch to the trim with two hooks and four pins. Make sure the speaker and microphone are in correct orientation with the trim. 4 PINS TRIM SPEAKER GRILLE HOLE MICROPHONE GRILLE CENTER CENTER OF THE HOLE BRACKET SPEAKER 2 HOOKS BB 34. Remove the adhesive backing from the foam block, and attach it to the bracket in the area shown. 35. Position the bracket into the headliner opening. MICROPHONE SWITCH CE 37. Plug the harness 20-pin connector into the switch, and secure the switch to the bracket with two 5 x 12 mm pan screws. 10 38. Route the other end of the harness as toward the fuse box as shown. Plug the 8-pin connector into the fuse box at the 8-pin connector shown. VIEW 40. If other accessory is already plugged into the 8-pin connector unplug it. Remove the dummy connector from the 8-pin connector taped to the harness. and plug the other accessory 8-pin connector into the harness. and plug the harness. Route the harness along the vehicle harness, and secure it to the vehicle harness with two wire ties. WIRE TIE 20 A FUSE 8-PIN 8-PIN DB 39. 11 42. Route the harness 1-pin connectors to the center console opening, and secure it to the vehicle harness with one wire tie. 45. Unplug the vehicle 1-pin connector, and plug it to the harness 1-pin connector. DRIVER S DASHBOARD UNDER COVER OPENING 1-PIN WIRE TIE 1-PIN WIRE TIE CENTER CONSOLE OPENING AB 43. Route the harness along the vehicle harness and secure it to the vehicle harness with seven wire ties. TORX GROUND BOLT 1-PIN 1-PIN BB 46. Plug the harness 1-pin connector to the vehicle 1-pin connector. Make sure to thoroughly insert the connector. 47. Secure the harness to the vehicle harness with two wire ties. GROUND TERMINAL 7 WIRE TIES BB 44. Remove the vehicle torx ground bolt and attach the harness ground terminal. Reinstall and tighten the vehicle ground bolt American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 12 48. Using an isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the area where the double-sided tapes will attach. TOP VEIW Align with the center. 50. Using an isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the bottom of the control unit where the double-sided tape will attach. TOP VEIW Align. ADHESIVE BACKING Remove. Align with the center. DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE CONTROL UNIT Align. ADHESIVE BACKING Remove. ADHESIVE BACKING Remove. BRACKET Clean with an isopropyl alcohol BB BRACKET 49. Remove the adhesive backings from each double-sided tape and attach the tape to the bracket in the area shown. ADHESIVE BACKING Remove. Align. DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE Align DB 51. Remove two adhesive backings from the top of the double-sided tape, and stick the control unit to the double-sided tape as shown. 12 of 15 AII (0903) 2009 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 13 52. Secure the control unit to the bracket with one long wire tie. EPT SEALER Cut in four equal pieces. CONTROL UNIT 57. Using diagonal cutters, cut off the indicated tab from the driver s dashboard under cover. Remove any burrs. Cut off. CONTROL UNIT EPT SEALER BRACKET LONG WIRE TIE BB DRIVER S DASHBOARD UNDER COVER AB 53. Using scissors, cut one EPT sealer to four equal pieces. 54. Using an isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the areas where the EPT sealers will attach. 55. Attach two EPT sealers to the control unit in the area shown. If the vehicle is equipped with accessory security system, continue with step 56; otherwise, go to step Secure the accessory security system control unit and control unit to the driver s dashboard under cover with three 4 x 12 mm screws. Go to step SCREWS, 4 x 12 mm CONTROL UNIT With Accessory Security System 56. Remove the accessory security system control unit (two self-tapping screws). 2 SELF-TAPPING SCREWS Discard. 14 59. Using diagonal cutters, cut off the indicated tabs from the driver s dashboard under cover. Remove any burrs. DRIVER S DASHBOARD UNDER COVER Cut off. 61. Reinstall the fuse access panel. FUSE ACCESS PANEL 22-PIN DRIVER S DASHBOARD LOWER COVER Cut off AB DRIVER S DASHBOARD UNDER COVER CONTROL UNIT CB 60. Secure the control unit to the driver s dashboard under cover with three 4 x 12 mm screws. 3 SCREWS, 4 x 12 mm CONTROL UNIT 62. Plug the harness 22-pin connector into the control unit, and reinstall the driver s dashboard under cover. If equipped, plug in the security system connector. 63. Using an isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the area where the fuse label will attach. Clean with an isopropyl alcohol. 15 Reinstalling the Grab Rail 65. Using a needle nose pliers, remove two clips from the vehicle panel, and install the clips into the grab rail. 2 S 2 CAPS CROSS SECTION LEFT GRAB RAIL T 66. Reinstall the left grab rail with two clips and two caps. 67. Check that all wire harness are routed properly and all connectors are plugged in. 68. Reinstall all removed parts. 69. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. 70. Enter the customer s radio anti-theft code, and reset the radio station presets. 71. Reset the clock American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
