2 Welcome to Time Warner Cable Mobile Internet With Time Warner Cable Mobile Internet and the Sierra Wireless W801, it s easy to enjoy a super fast Mobile Internet connection with almost any Wi-Fi compatible device. Simply follow the instructions to set up and activate your personal mobile hotspot device. Then connect and go! 2

3 Requirements Check your computer s system requirements to ensure compatibility with the W801: System Requirements Mac OS 10.4.x or higher Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 USB 2.0 slot (for USB cable connections only) Browser Requirements For device activation and Home Page access: IE 6.0 or higher Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher Google Chrome or higher Apple Safari 2.0 or higher Opera 9.64 Your computer and any other Wi-Fi compatible devices must support Wi-Fi (802.11b/g). 3

6 Getting Started 1. Insert the battery into the W801. Plug the USB cable into the device and connect it to the power charger. Charge the battery for at least 3 hours, or until the Battery Status indicator is full. 2. Ensure you are in a Time Warner Cable Mobile Internet service area. 3. Check to see if that your computer s Wi-Fi is turned on. 4. To turn on the W801, press and hold the Power button for several seconds. 5. The W801 s LCD Screen will display the W801 Wi-Fi Network Name and Password, and ask you to connect your computer to the W801 Wi-Fi network. The W801 Wi-Fi Network Name is TWC4GMobile-xxx. Your Password is a series of 6 random numbers. For assistance with connecting your computer to a Wi-Fi network, refer to the How to Connect section of this Guide. 6

7 6. The LCD Screen will then prompt you to open a web page or browser window to continue with set up. You will be automatically directed to the Time Warner Cable Terms of Service. You must review and accept these terms the first time you use the device. 7

8 After accepting the Terms of Service, you will have the option to connect to the Internet or go to the Home Page to customize your settings. You are now ready to enjoy Time Warner Cable Mobile Internet on the go, and share your connection with other Wi-Fi compatible devices! 8

9 Share your W801 Wi-Fi Connection You can share your connection with up to 5 other Wi-Fi compatible devices. 10 Manage your Sierra Wireless W801 Change your network settings or your password Use the Sierra Wireless W801 Home Page to view the status of the device and your Wi-Fi connection, change your device settings and password, receive software updates, and more. You can access the Home Page whenever you are connected using the W801. Type into the address bar of your browser window. In order to change settings, you are required to login using the Admin Login tool at the top of the page. Your default admin password is password. 10

12 How to Connect to the W801 Wi-Fi Network For Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000: 1. From your desktop, click START>SETTINGS>NETWORK CONNECTIONS. 2. Right-click WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION to view the available wireless networks. 3. Select the TWC4GMobile-xxx network and click CONNECT. 4. Enter your password (may be referred to as a network key) to complete the connection. For Windows 7: 1. From your desktop, click START and enter join network in the text box. 2. A pop-up window will display a list of available networks. 3. Select the TWC4GMobile-xxx network and click CONNECT. 4. Enter your password (may be referred to as a network key) to complete the connection. 12

13 For Mac : 1. From your desktop, click the APPLE icon>system PREFERENCES>WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTIONS. 2. Select the TWC4GMobile-xxx network and click CONNECT. 3. Enter your password (may be referred to as a network key) to complete the connection.
