3 2 3 Assembly Instructions Assembly Instructions 1. S lide hose connect on to wand ensuring set screw is in line with the channel on the wand 2. Tighten set screw with Allen key 3. E nsure blade is facing the right direction (blade turns clockwise when looking from bottom of blade) 13. S nap cable into driver hub housing, verify that cable is engaged and locked 14. S crew on handle to driver hub housing and verify that it is fully threaded and snug 15. Cut vacuum hose to wand hose adapter to fit your wet/dry vacuum (wet/dry vacuum hoses can vary in size) 4. S leeve driver hub into bottom of blade verifying the hub and pins are fully seated in the correct location 5. Slide bearing onto driver hub shaft 6. I nsert idle hub into top of cutting blade, ensure hub is fully seated and in the correct location 16. Vacuum adapter shown here is cut to fit larger wet/dry vacuum hose 17. Attach wand hose to hose connect 18. Adapter connected to wet/dry vacuum hose and wand hose 7. S leeve top of blade through bottom of wand tube 8. Sleeve idle hub bearing onto idle hub shaft 9. S crew on idle hub housing and ensure it is fully threaded and snug 19. A ttach Velcro around hose and cable below the base of the handle 20. P lug wet/dry vacuum into speed control receptacle (Never plug motor into speed control) 21. Verify motor and vacuum are turned off and plug speed control into standard 110v receptacle 10. S crew on driver hub housing to bottom of wand and verify that it is fully threaded and snug 11. Slide handle over cable ensure that the threads on handle are facing the right direction 12. A lign key from cable with the slot in the driver hub 22. Verify motor and vacuum are turned off and plug motor into standard 110v receptacle

4 4 5 Operations NOTE: We recommend removing fan leaves before using the Wander Trimmer and prepping the plant as if it were ready to hang dry. However, the Wander Trimmer can be used while the plant is still in its pot and as a dry trimmer, although we suggest trimming wet. 4. A pply 3-4 drops of food grade oil into cutting slot or use center hole in idle hub housing (Consistent oiling will ensure the wand and cutting blade last longer, remain clean and keep the disassembled cleaning quick and easy). NOTE: Be sure to wear cut resistant gloves and eye protection before cleaning or handling the Wander Trimmer. (For best results clean wand components thoroughly and frequently). 3. Unscrew wand from driver hub housing. Periodic Cleaning 1. Turn on vacuum and set speed control switch to variable, adjust speed (we recommend medium). 1. U nplug motor, speed control and vacuum and disconnect vacuum hose. 4. Remove blade, hubs and bearings. 5. Gently tap and rub the wand over the product working at the base of the flower while rotating the plant and maneuvering the wand (See product videos on our website 6. When you feel increased vibration or a stuttering in the cutting blade apply 3-4 drops of food grade oil into cutting slot or use center hole in idle hub housing. Decreasing the speed and/or increasing the speed of the motor after oiling will help self-clean the inside of the tube and the outside of the blade. 5. Using wand brush clean wand tube and cutting blade. 2. Hold the wand firmly. 3. Turn on motor and adjust speed (We recommend medium). IMPORTANT: If the wand tube and cutting blade have developed too much build up and you find yourself needing to oil it more frequently, it means it is time to quickly disassemble and clean. It is important that you apply 3-4 drops of oil before turning off the motor. This will ensure that the cutting blade slides out of the tube easily. If you do not oil before turning off the motor and you let the blade sit inside the tube with large amounts of build up before removing, the buildup will dry and make it more difficult to remove the cutting blade from the tube. 7. Please refer to the cleaning section of this manual for proper cleaning methods. 2. Unscrew idle hub housing from wand.

5 B e sure the cutting edge of the blade is facing the right direction (cutting blade rotates clockwise when viewing from the bottom of the cutting blade). 10. I nstall top bearing onto cutting blade idle hub and screw on idle hub housing. 2. Unscrew and remove the wand from the driver hub housing, and remove idle hub housing. 6. Remove cable from driver hub housing 11. A pply 3-4 drops of oil into cutting slot or use center hole in idle hub housing. 3. Carefully remove the blade, hubs and bearings. 7. I f wand components are really dirty or have sat for a while allowing the buildup to dry, pre-soak in diluted purple simple green. 8. A fter components have soaked use the bottle brush and carefully clean the blade and all the components before toweling dry. 7. Install cutting blade hubs. 8. S leeve cutting blade with hubs and lower bearing into driver hub housing, be sure to align slot in driver hub with key on flex shaft. Deep cleaning 4. Loosen set screw on hose connect and remove. 1. Unplug motor, speed control and vacuum and disconnect hose. 9. Sleeve wand around blade and screw on to driver hub housing. 5. Unscrew handle from driver hub housing. 9. A fter all of the parts have been thoroughly cleaned, follow assembly and operating instructions.

6 8 9 Motor Maintenance and Cleaning Motor Maintenance and Cleaning NOTE: The shaft should be checked, wipe cleaned, and re-lubricated with grease every 50 hours of use. With every 200 hours of use, the shaft should be thoroughly cleaned with solvent and lubricated with high quality white lubricating grease. Routine cleaning and lubrication of flexible inner shaft exposing the inner shaft 6. Replace and adjust sheath so that shaft key tip extends ¾ (19mm) from sheath. Retighten the set screw in motor connector. Installation of new shaft 1. After removing old shaft, loosen set screw on the new flexible shaft motor coupling and slide coupling onto motor shaft. Replacement of motor brushes Motor brushes should be checked for wear periodically. When new they are approximately ¾ (19mm) long. Replace them when they have worn to ¼ (6mm). To remove the brushes, disconnect motor power cord and unscrew the brush caps. Remove the worn motor brushes, replace with new motor brushes, and screw motor brush caps back on. Be sure to replace. 1. Remove wand (see assembly instructions). 2. Loosen set screw on motor connector. 7. Clean outside of the sheath by wiping with a cloth. 3. Slide outer sheath out of motor connector and wipe shaft clean. Replacement of worn shafts and sheaths NOTE: Shafts and sheaths last longer when they are not used at sharp angles or loops. Since wear occurs at the points of greatest friction. There is no way to avoid ultimate wear, and under normal condition a flexible shaft machine may require several replacement shafts and sheaths during its lifetime. To expose the inner shaft follow steps 1, 2, and 3 exposing the inner shaft. 2. Tighten set screw securely onto the flat of the motor shaft. 3. Grease shaft prior to putting on the sheath. 4. Slide motor connector back up over the shaft and tighten to the left (counterclockwise). 1. Remove motor connector with 1 open end or adjustable wrench. Motor connector has a left hand thread and must be turned clockwise (right) for removal. 4. Apply a very light coating of lubrication to shaft starting at the top and working your way downward to about three inches from the hand piece end. Apply grease with your finger tip or small brush. Don t overdo, apply a light film of grease. If too much grease is applied, the excess will work its way into the hand piece and eventually seep out between the hand piece and sheath. For this reason, apply a bit less near the hand piece end of the shaft. 2. Loosen set screw on the flexible shaft motor coupling and slide shaft off the motor shaft. 5. Slide sheath over flexible shaft with plain fitting directed toward the motor and into the motor connector. (Each end of the sheath has a metal fitting. One is plain, the other has a groove around it to fit the wand). 6. Adjust the shaft and tighten sheath set screw in motor connector. 5. Never operate the motor with the outer sheath removed from the flexible shaft.
