IBM Intelligent Video Analytics Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution Installation and Configuration IBM Intelligent Video Analytics provides facial recognition capability through an external Facial Recognition server. This document explains how you can integrate IBM Intelligent Video Analytics 1.5 with the IBM i2 Facial Recognition Solution (FRS) to enable this capability. This document also explains how you can set up a watch list to implement facial recognition. Prerequisites Before you can install the Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution fix pack for IBM Intelligent Video Analytics, you must ensure that the prerequisite SDK is available. The Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution fix pack for IBM Intelligent Video Analytics is integrated through the IBM i2 Facial Recognition Software Development Kit (FR SDK) v Contact your IBM i2 representative for access to this service asset. Minimum system requirements Before you start to install the Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution fix pack for IBM Intelligent Video Analytics, check that the minimum system requirements are met. The minimum system requirements for this fix pack are as follows: v IBM Intelligent Video Analytics 1.5 is installed, and the Smart Surveillance Engine (SSE) is installed on a 64-bit Windows platform with fixes IVA-PO02325 and IVA-SSE-PO02327 applied. For details on the installation and configuration of SSE, refer to the SSE installation guide. v A database server for Microsoft SQL or Oracle must be available. v A 64-bit Windows platform must be available for the i2 Facial Recognition (FR) server. v The contents of the Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution fix pack for IBM Intelligent Video Analytics must be accessible to these servers. Installing and configuring Installing and configuring Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition solution to work with IBM Intelligent Video Analytics V1.5 About this task Follow these steps to install and configure the components of the Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition solution. Procedure 1. Configuring the i2 Facial Recognition server and database on page 2 2. Configuring the Smart Surveillance Engine on page 2 3. Enrolling the i2 Facial Recognition Watch List on page 3 4. Configuring Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance on page 4 Copyright IBM Corp
Configuring the i2 Facial Recognition server and database About this task You must set up the IBM i2 Facial Recognition Software Development Kit to prepare the i2 Facial Recognition server. Procedure 1. Follow the installation instructions in the FR SDK Demo App Setup document that is included in the IBM i2 Facial Recognition Software Development Kit service asset. 2. Check that on the Facial Recognition Server Properties page, the values on the Attributes tab are set as in Table 1. Values not listed in Table 1. should be blank. Table 1. Persons table attributes Attribute Table name Primary key Last name First name Date of birth Gender User field 1 Value dbo.personstable PersonID LastName FirstName DOB Gender Address Configuring the Smart Surveillance Engine About this task Complete the following tasks to configure the Smart Surveillance Engine (SSE) for Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution: Procedure Install the i2 Facial Recognition (FR) Client Control component. 1. On every SSE server: a. Run the i2 FR SDK installer. b. Ensure that the Facial Recognition Server component is not selected for installation. Install and configure Facial Recognition on every SSE server. 2. Extract the installation file IVA-SSE-FR-i2-Integration.zip to a temporary directory available to the SSE server. 3. Copy the file S3FaceRecogDriver_I2.dll from the temporary directory to the SSE installation directory. The default SSE installation directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\ibm\sse4.0 on a 64-bit operating system. 4. Stop the SSE service: a. Run the service management tool on the SSE server: Start > Run > services.msc. The Services window opens. b. Locate and right-click the service IBM SSE 4.0. c. Select Stop. d. Close the Services window. Note: A reboot may be required before you continue. 2 Intelligent Video Analytics: Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution Installation and configuration guide
5. If the file S3FaceRecogDriver.dll exists in the SSE installation directory, delete it. 6. Rename S3FaceRecogDriver_I2.dll in the SSE installation directory to S3FaceRecogDriver.dll. 7. Copy the i2 Facial Recognition Solution configuration file, S3I2FRServer.cfg, from the temporary directory to the SSE installation directory. 8. Navigate to the SSE installation directory and open the file S3I2FRServer.cfg with your preferred text editor or Notepad. Update the following fields: a. Set ServerIP to the IP address or host name of the i2 Facial Recognition (FR) server. b. Set ServerPort to the port for the i2 FR server. c. Set UserName to a valid user name for the i2 FR server database. d. Set Password to the corresponding password for the i2 FR server database. e. Set MatchThreshold to the facial recognition threshold used to match faces. A typical value of MatchThreshold is 0.6. A lower value of MatchThreshold results in more faces being matched. A higher value of MatchThreshold results in less faces being matched, but with a higher confidence in the matching results. 9. Run the service management tool on the SSE server: Start > Run > services.msc. 10. Restart the SSE service: a. Run the service management tool on the SSE server: Start > Run > services.msc. The Services window opens. b. Locate and right-click the service IBM SSE 4.0. c. Select Start. d. Close the Services window. Enrolling the i2 Facial Recognition Watch List About this task Follow this procedure to add faces to the watch list for Facial Recognition. Procedure 1. Start the i2 SDK Demo tool: C:\Program Files (x86)\ibm\i2 Recognition SDK\SDK Demo App\SDKDemoApp.exe. 2. Enroll a target suspect, as illustrated in Figure 1 on page 4. IBM Intelligent Video Analytics Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution Installation and Configuration 3
Figure 1. Video Watch App a. Click Add Person, and enter the name of the suspect and any other known demographic information. b. Click Save to add the suspect to the Person list. c. Select the name of the suspect in the Person list, and click Load Image. d. Select a photo of the suspect. e. Click Enroll Image. 3. Repeat the previous enroll steps until all subjects of interest are enrolled. Note: Images can be enrolled in batches. To do this, click Batch Insert and follow the on-screen instructions. Configuring Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance About this task Set up Facial Recognition alerts to trigger real-time alerts when target subjects are recognized. Procedure To set up real-time alerts, follow these steps: 1. Log on to the Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance (MILS) server Administrator Client (user pvdmin). 2. Create a new view using the Near Field People Search profile. For instructions on creating a view, see the Administrator guide ( 3. In the new Near Field People Search view, click Alert Type and then select Face Recognition from the drop down list. For more details, refer to the context help of the Alert Editor for the usage of the Face Recognition alert by clicking the Help button on the Alert Editor window. Note: The IBM i2 Facial Recognition Software Development Kit (FR SDK) v10.6.0, that is a prerequisite for IBM Intelligent Video Analytics 1.5 Face Capture, does not support name checking. 4 Intelligent Video Analytics: Face Capture Enhancement for i2 Facial Recognition Solution Installation and configuration guide
The user cannot check if a specified name is already in the FR database. The result of clicking Check on the IVA Face Recognition alert dialog is undefined.
