2 FADE IN: EXT. PARK - DAY THEODORE GAINSLEY, (2), bald and cranky, rolls through the park, his stroller pushed by GAINSLEY, (35), conservative. He rolls him by another BABY in a stroller. She looks sorrowful as the leaves fall down upon her in the crisp, autumn air. She sticks her hand out. Teddy and her touch as they pass. They make it to a park bench. Teddy stares at a bird that lands on his stroller. He excitedly reaches for it, but the bird flies off. He frowns. Stuart takes a seat next to him on the bench. I can t believe it s been a year. He digs in his pocket. Pulls out a chain with a heart on it. He opens the locket. Shows Teddy the picture inside of a WOMAN, (30), cheerfully beautiful. (CONT D) Do you remember her? Teddy crinkles his eyebrows. His lip quivers and he shakes his head. Teddy looks down for a moment. (softly) I want out. Did you say something? I want out! He struggles in his stroller. Now you know you can t do that. Why?

3 2. Stuart tries to find the words, unsure of how to answer. I have to go to work now. Why? Stuart stands. Grabs a hold of the stroller. EXT. STREET - DAY Stuart pushes Teddy as he pounds his fists on the sides of the stroller, defiantly. Why? It s not fair! Not fair! EXT. DAY CARE - CONTINUOUS Stuart rolls Teddy up a long walkway towards smiling DAY CARE WORKER #1, who is standing in front of a sign that reads Day Care. Hey Teddy! Teddy stays silent, his face red from crying. We re having a bad day today... His bottom lip quivers. Well, we have a special Valentine s Day dance planned. You want to go inside? We ve got pudding! DAY CARE WORKER #2 comes out and takes over the stroller. Keep an extra eye on him today, will you? DAY CARE WORKER #2 Of course.

4 3. INT. DAY CARE - MAIN ROOM - CONTINUOUS Day Care Worker #2 parks his stroller by FRITZ PETERS (2), a stubby with a killer bald spot. Teddy nods. FRITZ (slight German accent) You new? FRITZ (CONT D) We all are. He looks around. Everyone looks uneasy. Where are we? LAUREN ANDERSON (3), Shirley Temple blonde, who is also in a stroller, giggles nervously. LAUREN You mean, you don t know? QUAKER (4), who has a fiery blob of red hair perched on top of her head walks over to Teddy. What s your name? WAYNE PAYNE (5), dressed in a cowboy hat and boots, lays lazily on the couch. WAYNE Who cares? I told you, all they know about is work. They ain't got time to mess with us. Soft music starts up. Okay everyone, grab a partner. Parliament grabs Teddy s stroller. Let s dance! They laugh as she spins him around. Wayne taps her on her shoulder. My turn. WAYNE

5 4. No thanks. My turn. WAYNE Wayne puts his hand on the stroller, stopping them. Teddy bites him, hard. Wayne puts his clenched fist up to Teddy s face. WAYNE (CONT D) Buddy, you want to dance? Lets go. Come on, Imma hit you so hard... DAY CARE WORKER #2 comes up and pulls open the back of Wayne s pants. Looks inside. DAY CARE WORKER #2 Just as I thought, Wayne. And it s a big one! Come on, let s get you cleaned up. He leads Wayne away. They all laugh. Laugh too hard. Suddenly Teddy stops. A sense of sadness fills his eyes. Lets get out of here! She pushes him towards a door. They go through. INT. DAY CARE - SECRET ROOM - DAY Hidden, Teddy and Parliament snicker and hold their mouths as Day Care Worker #1 goes by. Teddy? Parliament? Day Care Worker #1 leaves the room. They turn to see a picture of an old couple hanging from the wall. They stare at it, interested. The couple in the picture moves. Oh! Parliament turns the stroller towards the door and runs as fast as her wobbly legs can carry them. They try to catch their breath as they hide in a corner.

6 5. (CONT D) There s something bad here. Really, really bad. Teddy nods in agreement. A shadow comes over them. DAY CARE WORKER #2 There you two are. Day Care Worker #2 leads them both into the main room. INT. DAY CARE - MAIN ROOM - CONTINUOUS Teddy and Parliament stand watching the others dance pitifully. Some stare out the window. Teddy hears a thump and looks over. Parliament lies on the ground, not moving. He tries to get out of the stroller. Help! The Day Care Workers rush over. EXT. DAY CARE - DAY Teddy looks out the window, his face a flashing red. His lip quivers. INT. DAY CARE - MAIN ROOM - NIGHT Teddy peers through the window, into the darkness. Waiting. The others have grown tired of dancing and are now sitting in front of a TV set. Something is happening here and you just watch TV? They groan. Teddy looks at the door, then back at the group. (CONT D) (to Fritz) Come on, give me a push. INT. DAY CARE - SECRET ROOM - CONTINUOUS Teddy flies through the door off of Fritz s grip, right at the picture of the old people. He stops.

7 6. The picture has changed. There is now just an old man. This is bad. Teddy shakes his head. He screams. Agghhhh! (CONT D) The Day Care Workers burst through the door. What s going on? What s wrong? The picture, it s haunted. They scared her so bad. She fell down. Day Care Worker #1 looks over at the painting. She nudges a Day Care Worker #2. Take that out of here. He grabs the painting and heads outside. (CONT D) It s okay, Teddy. It s okay. EXT. DAY CARE - CONTINUOUS Day Care Worker #2 sets the painting on the curb. INT. DAY CARE - MAIN ROOM - LATER Teddy is frantic now. He cannot breath. Day Care Worker #1 tries to comfort him. The others are gathered around, concerned. Where is she? Why won t you tell us? Where? LAUREN WAYNE We want to know what s going on here!

8 7. Now, if you ll just calm down... Stuart walks through the door. (CONT D) Look, it s your son. Dad? Teddy stops. Looks up at Stuart. His eyes grow. INT. DAY CARE - MAIN ROOM - CONTINUOUS Day Care Worker #2 parks Teddy s stroller by FRITZ PETERS (4), stubby with a killer bald spot. He nods. FRITZ (slight German accent) You new? FRITZ (CONT D) We all are. The babies, now old folks look back anxiously as Day Care Worker #1 closes the front door. EXT. DAY CARE - CONTINUOUS Without the Day Worker blocking it, the sign now reads Adults with Alzheimer's Day Care. The painting is still outside. It is a mirror. FADE OUT. THE END
