Teacher Collaborative Professional Development Day Choir Course of Study Standard # 1 The student will sing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music appropriate for the changing male and female voice. Sing choral works with two and three-part harmonies, with and without accompaniment 2. Sing, with appropriate expressions, a repertoire of music literature from various styles and historical periods 3. Perform in choral ensembles with appropriate posture and breathing, blend of tones, balance of sections, and response to the cues of a conductor 4. Sing and count age- and skill-appropriate melodic and rhythmic patterns 5. Sing in a variety of tonalities, including major and minor 6. Sing in a variety of simple and compound meters 7. Sing with purity of vowels and clarity of cconsonants 8. Apply dynamic markings to music being performed including p, mp, mf, f, crescendo, decrescendo 9. Respond to tempo markings including allegro, andante, moderato and lento 10. Show respect for the singing efforts of others Standard # 2 The student will read and notate basic music notation.
6 Identify notes and rests (sixteenth, eighth, quarter, half, whole, dotted), basic symbols and terms 2. Read notes and rests in 2/4, 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, and 2/2 meters 3. Read and notate rhythm patterns that include dotted and tied notes 4. Read and write solfege as a musical learning tool 5. Use hand signs to reinforce solfege and music reading skills 6. Sight-read pitch notation in the treble and bass clefs 7. Identify standard notation symbols for pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, articulation and expression 8. Show respect for the reading and notating efforts of Others Standard #4 The student will move alone and with others. Conduct patterns in simple meter 2. Use movement to demonstrate contrasting styles of music 3. Perform body percussion and movements in patterns and sequences to express musical ideas 4. Perform microbeat and macrobeat subdivisions 5. Show respect for the movement efforts of others

Develop and apply criteria for evaluating vocal/choral performances 7.
