1 P a g e 1 ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE: CRIMINAL JUSTICE (JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION EMPHASIS): CREDIT PURCHASE PROGRAM Last Update: Thank you for your interest in the Judicial Administration credit purchase program, available to members of the Missouri Association of Court Administrators (M.A.C.A.). The information contained within this package will provide you with the answers to many of your questions regarding this program and how to participate in it. Contents of this program application package include: Form #1- Notice of Application for the Credit Purchase Program under the A.A.S.- CJ (Judicial Administration Emphasis) Degree Form #2- Student Request for Official Transcript and/or Training Record Procedural Steps for the M.A.C.A. Credit Purchase Program: Note: Eligibility for this program requires the applicant to be a current member of M.A.C.A.. Verification of membership will be required. Step 1. All persons interested in applying under this credit purchase program must first apply for and be admitted to Mineral Area College. The credit purchase application cannot be processed until the applicant is admitted to Mineral Area College. Step 2. Once admission has been granted, those students applying under this program are required to complete the following two forms: Form #1- Notice of Application for Credit Purchase under the M.A.C.A. Credit Purchase Program This form must be completed and submitted to the Criminal Justice Department at Mineral Area College before or at the same time as the Student Request for Official Transcript and/or Training Record is

2 P a g e 2 completed and sent out to the training center by the student. There is a $25 non-refundable training record evaluation fee that must accompany the Notice of Application form, payable to Mineral Area College. Form #2- Student Request for Official Transcript and/or Training Record This form must be submitted by the applicant to the institution(s) where the applicant has completed designated continuing judicial education credit sponsored or authorized under M.A.C.A., such as those continuing education courses offered during the M.A.C.A. annual summer conference. Once completed, this form is submitted by the applicant to each institution where the applicant has successfully completed continuing judicial education courses. As noted in the request for training records and/or transcripts, these documents must be sent directly from the training institution or official record keeping source to the Criminal Justice Department for evaluation. Any fees required by the training institution for the production of records are the responsibility of the applicant. Step 3. Once the necessary training records are received, the application for credit purchase is evaluated. A completed Eligibility for Credit Purchase form is completed by the Criminal Justice Department and sent back to the applicant. The applicant will identify and verify by signature which credit hours the student wishes to purchase from those listed on the eligibility form. This completed form must then be returned by the student through either the mail or by fax to the Criminal Justice Department for further processing. Step 4. Once the verified and signed Credit Purchase Eligibility form is received by the Criminal Justice Department, a billing will be generated to the applicant that indicates the total cost of the credit purchase that must be paid prior to the awarding of credit. Credit approved under this program is purchased at the rate of $25 per credit hour. The billing will indicate that the applicant has 180 days from the date of billing to submit the credit purchase amount. Once the 180 day period has expired the credit purchase option is no longer available. Any fees paid as part of the credit purchase program are non-refundable. Step 5. Once the credit purchase amount is remitted in full, the Dean of Career and Technical Education (CTE) will be sent the approved credit purchase program package requesting the awarding of credit. Upon

3 approval of the Dean, a letter requesting the awarding of the specified credit is issued to the Mineral P a g e 3 Area College Registrar. The Registrar will award the credit to the applicant s transcript, pending the completion of at least 15 credit hours through Mineral Area College. Upon completion of 15 credit hours at Mineral Area College, the Registrar s Office will make a permanent entry in the student s college transcript reflecting the college credits purchased. Note: Credits purchased under this program will reflect a grade of P for pass, and will not count toward the applicant s grade point average. Credits purchased under this program may not be transferrable to another institution of higher learning. I understand this application process will involve the following steps: 1. I must first complete an admission application and be accepted for admission to Mineral Area College, and have paid the $15 admission fee. 2. I must complete a Notice of Application for Credit Purchase Program, and enclose a check or money order in the amount of $25, payable to Mineral Area College, for the purpose of evaluating the training records and/or transcripts of my judicial administration training, to determine what credit I may be eligible to purchase under this program. 3. I understand that any fees paid under the provisions of this program are non-refundable. 4. I understand that I am responsible for arranging to have any training records and/or transcripts related to my judicial administration training sent directly to the Mineral Area College Criminal Justice Program from the agency or organization where the training was received, and that any fees related to that process are my responsibility. 5. I understand that once these records have been received, an evaluation will be made to determine what credit I may be eligible to purchase under this program. The results of this evaluation will be sent to me, and at that time I must select the credit I intend to purchase. I will return that completed credit evaluation form, and a billing will be for the credit purchase I have indicated. 6. I understand that once that billing is generated, I will have 180 days to pay the amount in full to secure my credit purchase, after which time the credit purchase program is no longer available. I also understand that I may not revisit the application process for additional credit once the initial application process is completed. 7. I understand that I must complete at least 15 credit hours at Mineral Area College before those credits will permanently appear on my transcript, and that these course grades will indicate only a letter of P for pass and will not count towards my grade point average.
