1 College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) Transfer Guide for Rochester Community and Technical College This is the most up to date transfer guide. These guides are updated at least once per year, but are subject to change at any time. If you have questions, contact CFANS transfer admissions at General Admission Guidelines for CFANS: Successful applicants will have College Algebra (or higher) completed or in progress to be completed prior to enrolling at the U of M. This must be completed with a C- or higher. Priority admission consideration is given to applicants who intend to graduate from CFANS. Most successful applicants will have a strong foundation in math and science. For transfer applicants with fewer than 26 college credits complete, applications are reviewed using both college academics and the following: o Successful completion of the high school course requirement. o High school rank percentile (students from non-ranking schools and those with GED or other high school equivalency are given full consideration). o ACT or SAT scores. o Rigor of the high school curriculum. Major-Specific Admission Guidelines: NOTE: Detailed course transfer information for every CFANS major begins on page 2 below. Animal Science Pre-Vet Successful applicants to the Pre-Vet emphasis will have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have completed the following courses with a grade of B or higher: o College Algebra o One semester of Intro Chemistry with lab (Equivalent CHEM 1015/1017) or General Chemistry (Equivalent CHEM 1061/1065), prefer General Chemistry o One semester of General Biology with lab (Equivalent to BIOL 1009) Applied Economics Applicants must have either microeconomics or macroeconomics completed with a B- or better before enrolling at the U of M Agricultural and Food Business Management Applicants must have either microeconomics or macroeconomics completed with a B- or better before enrolling at the U of M. Most successful applicants will have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher Food Science Successful applicants must have completed the following courses with a grade of C- or better: o One semester of General Chemistry with lab (Equivalent CHEM 1061/1065) o One semester of General Biology with lab (Equivalent to BIOL 1009) Preferred cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher Nutrition Successful applicants must have completed the following courses with a grade of C or better: o One semester of General Chemistry with lab (Equivalent CHEM 1061/1065) o One semester of General Biology with lab (Equivalent to BIOL 1009) **If a student has completed one full year of Chemistry (equivalent to CHEM 1061/1065 and CHEM 1062/1066) then the student is not required to complete General Biology with a lab, prior to admission. ** Preferred cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
