Leadership Values, Qualities, & Behaviors Profile guide for alignment at ##(name) Purpose of this document To explicitly define and communicate the Values, Qualities and Behaviors we seek in everyone s leadership at ## To serve as the uniform standard for conducting evaluation and accountability for everyone s leadership here To develop, encourage, and cultivate aligned leadership among everyone here Definitions of distinctions used in this document Value Quality n. something (as in a belief, principle, quality or entity) perceived as intrinsically useful, beneficial or desirable : a standard used to interpret an experience or object in relative terms of positive and negative (integrity is an important value for him) n. an inherent or distinguishing characteristic; a property : a personal trait, especially a character trait (she is someone with few desirable qualities) : essential character or nature (Titanium has the quality of being heatresistant) Behavior n. a sequence of choices made by an Entity in response to internal and external stimuli (their behavior reflected the fear and stress they were experiencing) Vision n. an imaginative, six-sensory subjective representation of that which an Entity aspires to create, and which is experienced as significantly larger than the apparent scope of immediate capability, possibility, or resources; may encompass either Service or Survival (her vision of service for how the world might be a better place is inspiring, and feels larger than life) copyright, Planned Success Institute Page of 0

Essential Action n. that core action an Entity takes to bring its Vision closer to existence : that action which underlies any set of actions which collectively advance Vision; may encompass either Service or Survival (compassionate listening is the essential action of service apparent in all his activities) Mission of Service n. a Mission which promotes Service over Survival [ others, as used/referenced below ] copyright, Planned Success Institute Page of 0

## s Leadership Mission of Service [sample content in italics] Leadership Vision what is the ideal leader creating through leadership? A group of accountable, responsible leaders, compassionately focused on service Leadership Essential Action what is the ideal leader doing to bring that Leadership Vision into being? Listening first, speaking second, if at all, and providing a safe, welcoming space for possibilities to emerge and unfold Leadership Mission of Service a statement of what purpose the ideal leader serves to him/herself and the group, combining Vision + Essential Action I am constantly developing a company of accountable, responsible leaders, compassionately focused on service, by listening first, speaking second, if at all, and providing a safe, welcoming space for possibilities to emerge and unfold. Leadership Values The ideal leader agrees that the following Values are essential to successful leadership in this organization, and demonstrates a clear commitment to choosing and acting in alignment with them: [PSI Core Values listed below to illustrate concept You should identify, list, and define ALL of the Values that are specifically-important to leadership in your organization] Abundance The quality or state of trusting in the ultimate fulfillment of any intention that is in the highest good of all concerned : a corollary of abundance is that a sincere act of Service will be supplied with all of the resources and provisions necessary to sustain it. Alignment The state of being in line so as to be parallel, lined-up, or oriented in the same direction. Authenticity The quality of something conforming to fact or observation and therefore being worthy of trust, reliance or belief. Awareness The quality or state of being marked by realization, perception or knowing. copyright, Planned Success Institute Page of 0

Clarity, openness no secrets The truth is spoken openly, directly and clearly for all to hear, trusting that individuals know how to take care of themselves, and that the complete, loving truth will assist them most of all. Compassionate, loving presence The deep feeling for and understanding of another s suffering, situation or condition and the concomitant desire to promote its alleviation. The understanding of how I might think, feel, or act were I in a similar situation or environment. Connection / Interdependence Integrity Every human, and all of life is connected; to each other, and to something greater than the individual parts. We are all connected, never truly alone or acting only for or by ourselves. We are interdependent. Consistent adherence to a code of moral, artistic or other values; entire correspondence with an original condition, commitment or agreement. Personal Responsibility Service The quality or state of being personally answerable as the primary cause of, motive behind, or agent for making choices and decisions both conscious and unconscious. An act of assistance or benefit to another or others, offered without attachment to or expectation of an outcome or result, and without a perception of need on either side. Service = Assistance + Invitation. Spirit The experience of connecting to and participating in something larger than self, larger than group. copyright, Planned Success Institute Page of 0

POISON Qualities and Behaviors The following qualities and behaviors, when observed in a leader, are grounds for immediate intervention, accountability, support and coaching. The ideal leader agrees that these poison qualities and behaviors undermine, diminish, and undercut leadership at all levels in the organization. POISON Qualities: Incongruence/Misalignment Leader s statements of intended choices or actions are at odds with observed choices or actions, and out of alignment with Leadership Values Victim Thinking Leader insists on denying [or qualifies in some energeticallysignificant way] authorship for his/her choices [and so on above listed only to illustrate concept You should identify, list, and define those Poison Qualities that are specificallydetrimental to leadership in your organization] POISON Behaviors: Triangulating Discussing others without them present in a way that you would not speak if they were present Complaining Complaining about or to some person or about a situation Criticizing, blaming Gives feedback without compassion or coaching intent.
